Tiderunner Bait and Tackle Fishing Report, Lewes, DE, 9-15-10
September 14
Nearshore Ocean and Bay
Captain Rick on the full day headboat has been doing well on a mix of both FLOUNDER and SEA BASS. When conditions are right for the drift, anglers have been doing well on the flatties and picking at the sea bass. When the drift is too fast, the boat will anchor up and work over the sea bass and then catch the occasional flounder. Either way, the fishing is pretty good....
Capt Carey and the GRIZZLY charter boat has been enjoying steady fishing for both FLOUNDER and CROAKERS. They have also done very well offshore recently, with TUNA, DOLPHIN, and a couple of HAMMERHEAD releases last week. Great boat and crew - I went out with them a few weeks ago and did very well - I highly recommend giving them a try.
The half day headboat will sail daily for another week or so if they can muster enough anglers - call them at 645-8862 for more info. The fishing has been pretty darn good with croakers, a mix of small blues, trout, sea bass, triggerfish, sea robins, and dog sharks. The pool winner has usually gone to those few who rig up for flounder with a fat minnow or strip bait.
Roosevelt Inlet and the Cape Henlopen pier have been hot and cold - some days and/or tides you can catch SPOT two at a time. Other days, its just a slow pick. There are still some flounder around the pilings of the pier - I caught four last night. If you really want to catch a nice size flounder, use a cast net and catch a live finger mullet. Hook him on a circle hook and let him swim around the pilings at the pier or tight to any other structure. Try the same technique in the surf - the finger mullet are running down the surf line now and an apparently injured one (like the one at the end of your line) is the absolute best bait you could use for any number of species. If you have a small child who wants to catch fish - get him some bloodworms and/or Fishbites, along with a pack of chartruese GULP baits for the flounder and take him to the pier.
INDIAN RIVER INLET
BLUEFISH have been wandering in and out of the inlet with the tides and a some STRIPERS have been caught at night.
Hot Tip of the Day!
Cooler full of SEA BASS? - go out on the full day headboat with Capt Rick. Drag a big bait and let him chew on it ( the fish, not Captain Rick) and you can catch some big flounder!

Sea Devil Charters Fishing Report, Pleasant Beach, NJ, 9-15-10
Tuesday, September 14: Great blue fishing with jigs today BP sailed east and anchored up. Art Weber & Bud Tunnelle eaxch had bonus catches of some false albacore tunas. We sail from 7:30 a.m-2:30 p.m. Plan to arrive by 7 a.m.
Monday, September 13: The Paul Sperco charter chose to go 65 miles out for “catch & release” blue-fin tuna. They had a blast! Eddie Mackin was high hook for the evening, hooking in to double digit numbers tuna. Ever reliable, Daly hooked into many tunas, as did Chuckie & Foster. Paul & Deb caught a couple apiece. Some anglers could not hold back their excitement in the start of the trip, but a fun time was had by all. Sunday, Sep 12: We found cooler water on the west side of the canyon, where we had fished yesterday, so we moved to the east side and searched, to find the area dry. BP made the stops for Mahi-mahi and most anglers caught some, before we headed back to land.

Very Good again Today (Tuesday). The weather looks good for Wednesday.

Albacore fishing was very good on our albacore Special today. We also caught plenty of blues for those who wanted to catch them.
The hot lures were the Tsunami and 007 jigs. Some were caught on bait but, the artificials had the advantage today. We read plenty of fish under the boat and saw many in the slick at times. Fishing could not be much better than it is right now!
