New jersey Charter boat and bait and tackle reports, 8-31

    Saltwater Report: 8/29/2010
Not too many reports off the surf because I bet most just enjoyed the nice day. Few keeper fluke on Gulp (our Gulp and squid sale is still on) and some bluefish on metals, bunker, or mullet. Reefs and wreaks are starting to produce some good fluke now. Yesterday the swell wasn't that bad.

    Bay / Jetty Report: 8/29/2010
Had a few reports that fluke (mostly shorts), kingfish, and a few blowfish were caught from Barnegat Bay, Great Bay and Tuckerton Bay. Also a few weakfish were caught out of Barnegat Bay. Crabbing is still going strong.

    Fresh Water Report: 8/29/2010
WOW what a day to be fishing and fishing people did. I can not list all the places people caught fish but I can tell you this. I had reports of bass, crappie, pickeral, sunnies, catfish and a few crap being caught.

    Fisherman Fred's Fishing Report, Hamilton,NJ, 8-31-10

    Saltwater Report: 8/30/2010
Only a handful of reports yesterday as most must have been enjoying the weather and not fishing. Some fluke and bluefish were caught from the IBSP surf. People fishing outside yesterday did pretty good on fluke. Off the red tower on LBI, Garden State South reef, off the bathing beaches on IBSP, and some of the other reefs some got their limits. There were some low swells but not what some of the services had said there was going to be.

    Bay / Jetty Report: 8/30/2010
Great Bay and Tuckerton Bay has been hard going for kingfish and blowfish. The good spots have not been producing anything worth keeping. On the other hand Barnegat Bay there has been some at least going into the cooler. Didn't hear about how the fluke fishing was in the bays as most went outside yesterday. Crabbing is going good with half bushels being common if you work for it.

    Fresh Water Report: 8/30/2010
As the weather got hotter yesterday the people slowed down on the fishing. I did get a few reports that bass, sunnies and catfish were caught from Town Center, bass and pickeral were caught from Miry Run, Prospertown Lake, and Etra Lake, and a few crappie and bass caught from Gropps Lake, Lake Mercer, and Lake Assunpink.

Grumpy's Bait and Tackle Fishing report, Seaside Park , 8-31-10

    Another Pretty Day
Ya gotta love it when the weather idiots cant find a raindrop to focus on - Sunny...hot with highs in the lower 90s. West winds 5 to 10 mph. You got it! Beach Day!!
Only 9 days left in the Fluke season so get em while you can. We didnt get a lot of reports from the beach yesterday. It seems that everybody went there and just stayed to enjoy a beautiful day. We did have a couple of guys come back for more mullet after an encounter with the small blues and the Fluke are still biting with Gulp as the bait of choice.
If you have the ability to learn from your mistakes, Mike should be able to open his own university soon!

    Some nice Fluke araound!
    Tuesday, August, 31, 2010 at 4:57AM
Joe Barbee pulled a 10 lb Fluke out of the inlet from the jetty yesterday. I suspect there are more where he came from because the Spearing are on the move. Doubtful that they are all that big but with only a week of Fluke left, it would be a good spot to be looking. More of those 10-12 lb Blues are in the neighborhood too. Bunker chunks or Mullet are doing the job. I didn′t hear any more rumors of Bass . Instead I got a picture in my email of one of these middle of the night Bass!
In case you havent heard, we have a tiny tropical storm (named Earl) that may interfere with our fishing. You may want to take advantage of this weather - Sunny. Highs in the upper 80s. North winds around 5 mph...becoming south this afternoon.
After spending all this time with Mike, I am wondering if Earth is the insane asylum for the universe!

8 Days of Fluke to go!
We do not have a lot of fish coming to the scale but it seems that there are a lot of fish being caught considering there were not a lot of fishermen hitting the beaches this weekend. Sunbathing and lounging season is coming to an end soon so there will be much more room to fish. We had a taste of blues up to the 12 lb range but the majority of them have been under 5 lbs and scattered around. Fluking from the beach remains good with gulp on a bucktail being a consistant performer. I am still hearing persistant rumors of Bass being caught on clams but the keepers must be shy because the never get to the scale.
Another day of frustration for the doom & gloom weatherman - Sunny...hot with highs in the lower 90s. North winds 5 to 10 mph. Yup, another beach day!
I think I know why I talk to Mike. The odds are he will say something smart soon!

Jingles Bait and Tackle fishing report, Beach Haven 8-31-10

    Mon Aug 30th

Muggy at 71 this am and a NW breeze. Water is 76 this morning at 5:30.

Holgate opens on Wed and storm warnings are predicted to kick in on Thurs. Lets hope for the best that is change paths and doesn't hurt us.

For today take advantage of the last few days of fluking and the nice day.

Alot of people took advantage of the day and we heard of some good ocean catches. Here is one from Dr. Hank with his nice 6 1/4 lber that he caught on Garden State South.

T Tomorrow sounds like another good one so Go Fishing before the season ends or Earl screws up the seas. A few folks headed offshore to take advantage of that great forecast. Amazing with that big storm below us and canyon forecast is fantasic. The surf is still giving up plenty of short fluke and a good amount of bluefish.

Scotts Bait and Tackle, Mystic Island,Fishing report 8-31-10

    Sunday, August 29, 2010 /\/\/\ 1:26pm
I did get the kingfish blowfish report today from several anglers and it wasn't what I had hoped for. There was plenty of activity: sea bass, spots, a couple of little blowfish, small sharks and searobins, but no cooler quality fish. I also had similar reports from the other areas of the Great Bay that have produced good kingfish and blowfish in years past.

We have been hearing mixed reports from ocean going anglers. Once out the rough inlet, the ocean conditions were reported as gorgeous, calm with intermittent low swells. One report found fluke in fifty-ish feet of water in front of the red tower. Another report confirmed activity up on the Garden State South reef, with back to back days of six keepers.

Plenty of anglers enjoyed a good day of fishing, but not a whole lot of catching going on anywhere. Good news is scarce, so just focus on a few good days ahead.
Live eels have arrived! A handful of anglers have been checking weekly. I think some folks know something about some local bass. I have heard the occasional sixteen inch bass caught while fishing for some other species and one real good visual report of busting water bass down along Brigantine Beach. Who knows? Just maybe there is an excuse to drag an eel. Some anglers seem to think so.

Paramount Fishing Report, Brielle, NJ, 8-31-10

    100ft. Paramount Fishing Report

    Updated 8/29/10

    Capt. Francis Bogan

After some tough weather early in the week that kept us at the dock through Wednesday, we were able to get out the rest of the week. Fishing was predictably picky after so much wind, current and heavy seas. We picked at Sea Bass most days, and had some Ling and even a few Blackfish come up on most days.

Catches ranged in the 5 to 8 fish per person with a few tens and twelves. Blackfish Doug from Manalapan, NJ had 8 keeper Sea Bass on Thursday's trip, Sam Cohen from Princeton had 6 Bass and 1 Ling and Bolo Steptoe from Philly was high hook with 10 Sea Bass and 6 Ling, one of which won the pool. John Tompson from Bristol, PA had 5 Ling and 2 Sea Bass on the 27th, Jim Peters from Philadelphia had 7 Ling and 2 bass, Tom Watson from Princeton, NJ had 8 Ling and Tom Morrison from High Park, NJ won the pool with a 6lb. Cod.

Saturday and Sunday were a bit pickier, although we did see a few Porgies and even some Fluke mixed in with the Sea Bass. Gerrie McCrobie from Colonia won Sunday's pool with a 3lb Fluke.

The Paramount is sailing every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday for Sea Bass from 6:30am to 3:30pm

Our Monday & Friday Marathons are also targeting Sea Bass. Trips sail every Monday & Friday from 6:30am to 5:00 pm. Our Marathons offer a longer day, enabling the captain to hit more or further spots, whatever is needed.

Our Tuesday & Wednesday Deep Water Ling Specials sail every Tuesday & Wednesday from 6:30am till 3:30 pm targeting Ling and Cod on the deep water drops and in the Mudhole.

There will be 2 special 12hour Ling Marathons on Labor Day Weekend sailing Sunday, September 5th and Monday, Labor Day, September 6th. The Paramount will be sailing from 5:00am till 5:00pm targeting Ling and Cod on those two days.

We will also be sailing on 2 special 12 hour Ling Trips on Saturday, September 11th and Sunday, September 12th. Those trips will also be sailing from 5am till 5pm for Ling and Cod.
