New jersey Charter boat and bait and tackle reports, 7-27-10

    New Jersey Fishing Reports

    Saltwater Report:

    7/28/2010
The quality of the fluke from the surf is getting better now with the keeper ratio being about 8 to 1 now. Any type of Gulp is working but the Swimming Mullet is still the best bet. Guys are having fun with the brown sharks at night still. Just use a bigger hook with wire line and a big chunk of bunker. Also heard that some blues are showing up. They are still a hit or miss fishing. Kingfish off the LBI surf is still hit or miss. When there is a south wind it shuts off the bite. Bloodworms is your best bet for kingies.

    Bay / Jetty Report:
    7/28/2010
The Double Creek area, the BI and BB buoys, and around the Barnegat Lighthouse were all doing pretty good for fluke in Barnegat Bay. The Barnegat Inlet, Manasquan Inlet, the Manasquan River, Little Egg Inlet were ok but not great. Heard of a some fluke being caught from Great Bay and Tuckerton Bay as well. Gulp being the bait of choice but others are working too. Crabbing is still going strong.

    Fresh Water Report:

    7/28/2010
WOW lots of people fishing today. I am glad I got in a load of bait for the weekend. Too many reports of bass, pickeral, crappie, sunnies, and catfish being caught to list all the places where. Looks like the rain helped fill in the ponds and fishing has gotten better.

Grumpy's Bait and Tackle Fishing Report, Seaside Park, 7-29-10

    Yet another nice beach day!
    Wednesday, July, 28, 2010 at 5:36AM
They must have fired the chief rainmaker at the weather center because there has been a dearth of doom & gloom reports of late - Mostly sunny. Highs in the mid 80s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph. What are you waiting for - snow? - head for the beach!
The Fluking has definitly improved. The throwback ratio has dropped to acceptable levels according to most of the guys I have talked with and even Robert C. was able to find a nice keeper in the surf! When you consider the fact that his skill set is topped by being able to walk and talk at the same time, there are plenty of Fluke just begging to be caught. GULP remains the bait of choice and we have plenty of it!
When you think about Mike, there is a lot to be thankful for, like the fact that he isnt twins!

Jingles Bait and Tackle Fishing Report, Beach Haven 7-29-10

    Wed July 28th
Cloudy morning with the air and the ocean both 74. Lite SW wind.
Pleasant surprise to have some of the spring/fall surf guys waiting for me this morning. They are here to take advantage of the great fluke fishing from the surf plus they enjoy kingfish. While in shop another of their buddies had called them and had already landed a 19 in. fluke. Nice seeing you this morning guys.
We have a lot of visitors in town because Beach Haven and Marlin and Tuna Club is hosting their 41st White Marlin Tour-nament with fishing start-ing tomorrow. This shop has made a lot of friends thru the years with boats that come to fish this tournament and it is always nice to see them each year. For a change the weather looks great for 2 of the 3 fishing days. So far this year there have been some big billfish caught and we know of the big tuna that have been brought back to dock. Yellowfin tuna are much more abundant this year and some nice big eye tuna have been brought back to dock.
Good luck for a safe and sucessful tournament to all fishing in the tournament and may the fish gods be with you.

    Scott's Daily Fishing Report

    Wednesday, July 28, 2010 /\/\/\ 5:57pm
I wish I had some great news to pass along, but things are much the same as they have been for the past few weeks. The heat and widn cut back on the quantity of anglers and that makes it tough to get up to date info to pass along.

    Sea Conditions: 2-4 ft.
    Primary Bait: Spearing
    Secondary Bait: Squid
    Lure Used: Spoon
    Fishing Report:
Fluke fishing seems to be the name of the game for the boats of the Beach Haven Charter Fishing Association. Captain George Finck of "Sparetime Charters" reports finding fish both in the bay and just outside the inlet. He took Leslie Nugent and her 12 year old son Cooper bay fishing recently for fluke. Young Cooper caught the big fish of the day, a 3.5 pound fluke. Another day Captain George had the Ted Sokolowski family out trolling for bluefish right off the beaches of LBI, and they finished the day with a nice catch of eating sized blues.

Captain Fran Verdi of the "Drop Off" reports he has switched gears and is now fishing for fluke both in the open ocean and at the reef sites. He reports despite a bit of a slow bite on the fluke in the ocean, he has been bringing some keepers across the rail. The back bay bite for fluke is still strong, but most fish are too small. The sea bass bite is erratic as the fish are now in the spawning mode. Captain Fran is looking forward to some tuna action in the near future and plans to fish in this weekend's White Marline Invitational with Captain Bob Gerkens on the "Hot Tuna."

Fisherman's Headquarters Fishing Report, Ship Bottom, NJ, 7-29-10

    Fisherman's Headquarters Fishing Report

    July 28, 2010

    5:00 PM

Yesterday, Skip took Uncle Moe out through the Barnegat Inlet and they headed North. They went as far North as the Manasquan Ridge and found plenty of other private and charter boats were already there. The current demanded that heavy weights be used and the fluke were there. They had a great 4:1 catch to keeper ratio and those keepers were all around 21". Uncle Moe said when they passed over a number of sweet spots the fish were hooking up only seconds after each drop down reached the bottom.

    1:00 PM

Came out to the same spot as yesterday in search of more keeper fluke but no keeper was caught. The action was just as hot as yesterday, 8-10+ fish per drift. Today I used heavier bucktails for the quicker drift. ~ Greg

    Big Jamaica fishing report 7-29

    Sailing 7:30AM Every Day

    Nite Blues 7:30PM

Call Capt. Howard Bogan @ 732-528-5014

    7/28 Report

Bluefishing was good again today. Fishing was slow early in the day but picked up later. Many caught limits again today. The best area was 12 miles ESE of Brielle.
The Jamaica is scheduled to sail every day at 7:30AM & every night at 7:30PM

    7/27 report

We had another good day of bluefishing for the smaller blues. Jigging was the best method and limit catches were common. The best area was 13 miles from Brielle.

    The pool winner was:

    Tony Russo from Sommerville NJ

If you want to take the kids bluefishing now is a good time. The blues are biting and this size is easy to handle. They are also very good eating.

The big Jamaica is scheduled to sail everyday & every night at 7:30AM & 7:30PM.

Our Canyon tuna schedule is now available.

Currently our first trip is scheduled for Labor Day however, we may add an earlier trip. Check our web-site for updates or get on our email list for future notices.

    For further information call 732-528-5014.

Fisherman Fred's Fishing Report, Hamilton, NJ, 7-30-10

    New Jersey Fishing Reports

    Saltwater Report:

    7/29/2010
Broken record, fluke and sharks and scattered blues. That's about it. It has been in a rut or I guess you could say SSDD as far as fishing goes. The fluke off the surf is still the same as it has been no improvement there.

    Bay / Jetty Report:
    7/29/2010
Fluke fishing in Barnegat Bay, Barnegat Inlet, Manasquan Inlet, the Manasquan River, Little Egg Inlet, Great Bay and Tuckerton Bay is still the same. It is good but mainly shorts. That leads some to think the bigger fluke are starting to move out of the bays. Crabbing is good. 4 to 5 dozen is common and some have full bushels but that takes a lot of work (all day).

    Fresh Water Report:

    7/29/2010
Reports of bass, pickeral, crappie, sunnies, and catfish being caught. Looks like the rain and cooler weather has made the fishing pretty good again. Most local lakes, ponds, and streams is producing now.

Grumpy's Bait and Tackle Fishing Report, Seaside Park, 7-30-10

    Here we go again!
    Thursday, July, 29, 2010 at 5:33AM
The evil weatherman is up to his old tricks - Showers and thunderstorms likely...mainly this afternoon. Highs in the lower 90s. West winds around 10 mph. Chance of rain 70 percent. Somehow, I have trouble believibg them.
Saturday is the end of the GarbageFish Tournament! It is time to get serious and get on the leaderboard. You GarbageFishers are down to the wire to get your garbagefish on the scale. There is cash and prizes to be had!
Yesterday, we had a lot of Flukers but no weigh-ins but that doesnt mean there are no keepers. For some unknown reason, there is little interest in weighing in a nice dinner fish that would make your fishing buddies envious.
I have been promised a shark report today from a couple of groups that were heading out last night. Lets see if they remember.
I dont know if it was Mike or his evil twin working last night but if talking was fast food, he woulda had an arch over his head.

Scotts Bait and Tackle, Mystic Island,Fishing Report 7-30-10

    Scott's Daily Fishing Report

    Thursday, July 29, 2010 /\/\/\ 6:40pm
Again, nothing quite new to pass along.
Big deal of the day was a drenching thunderstorm dumping much needed rain. The rain came down heavy and fast which means a lot of run off. I believe this will probably effect the crabbing too.
