New jersey Charter boat and bait and tackle reports, 7-24-10

    New Jersey Fishing Reports

    Saltwater Report:

    7/23/2010
It looks like the guys are watching the bikinis and not fishing. Not too many reports from the surf. Heard that the fluke fishing has been ok with about a 10 to 1 keeper ratio. Did hear any thing from the shark fishers. Yellowfin and white marlin out at the Hudson Canyon has been doing pretty good lately. The sea bass and blackfish is doing ok from the wrecks.

    Bay / Jetty Report:

    7/23/2010
Barnegat Inlet, Manasquan Inlet, the Manasquan River, and Little Egg Inlet are doing really good for fluke. Keeper ratios is still not good but if you are taking kids it is good to catch a lot of fish so they don't get bored. Barnegat Bay, Great Bay and Tuckerton Bay all had catches of fluke as well but you have to work a little harder for them. Gulp is still the bait of choice but other baits are working too. Crabbing remains very good as 3/4 to full bushels of them are now possible.

    Fresh Water Report:

    7/23/2010
Bass are being caught but you have to work a little bit. Also some sunnies, catfish, and a few pickeral were report being caught. Also had a report that the bass fishing both large and small mouth is doing ok on the Delaware River.

Grumpy's Bait and Tackle Fishing Report, Seaside Park, 7-24-10

    Another hot one!
    Friday, July, 23, 2010 at 5:17AM
The weathermen are back into doom & gloom mode looking for even the slightest chance of some rain - Partly sunny. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Highs in the upper 80s. South winds around 5 mph...becoming southwest 10 to 15 mph this afternoon. Chance of rain 20 percent. Anyway, cool down at the beach. Even if they get thier wish and a storm blasts through, it will be gone right away and you can go back to playing after a short interuption.
Another quiet day for the fishermen yesterday or maybe just the fishermen were quiet. Fluke on Gulp was the only word we heard. The night shift has been out sharking but I havent heard much from them either. Dog days of summer?
We did get a huge load of Gulp in yesterday along with more of the popular Plano Gulp Storage Boxes.
Please try to leave Mike alone, he is busy studying for a blood test.

Jingles Bait and Tackle Fishing Report, Beach Haven 7-24-10

    Jingles Bait and Tackle
    Fri July 23rd
Humid this am with an air temp of 77 and ocean 70. There is no wind this am.
Vacationers here this week had a nice week. Hot but rain free week and a chillier ocean. They caught fish and did well crabbing.
The am wind yesterday slowed down the early morning fluke fishing in the intercoastal but I was told it was back on in the evening tide when the winds drop-ped off.
Speaking of winds the offshore boats that had a crew made a run for it early this am so they can make it back before the winds pick up again offshore.
Despite the winds of yesterday surf fisherman still caught fluke. One angler had 3 keepers with the largest being 22 in fishing from Holgate surf. In my home neighborhood of Beach Haven Park good catches of fluke also reported. There is a family staying here from West Virginia and have never surf fished before they are having a ball fishing for the fluke. They are in Brant Beach near the Oh Fudge store. The father told me he has caught over 15 in 2 days. So as you can see they seem to be all over you just have to fish for them with cast and retrieve method.
Crabbing is fantastic! Reminds me of when I was a kid and you could go to the end of the street and catch crabs. Take ad-vantage of it while it is happening!

Scotts Bait and Tackle, Mystic Island,Fishing Report 7-24-10

    Scott's Daily Fishing Report

    Friday, July 23, 2010 /\/\/\ 6:19pm
Another hot muggy day and tomorrow no better. Quite a few anglers hit the water to escape the heat. Catching fish was optional.
Little Egg Inlet was the place to be in the later part of the week. Anglers will comb the reef sites tomorrow. Lets just hope there is a little bit more activity. There is hope as one angler found two little drift areas the he found fluke on the ocean. One in the LE reef and one a little offshore of the Rutgers Buoys. Even so, keepers were not found. At least there is hope now of finding some bigger fluke amongst the smaller fish.

Fishing Report - Delaware Bay / Atlantic Ocean

    July 22, 2010 - Hot Weather
If the fish catching was as hot as the weather, we'd be in good shape. But, it hasn't been too bad. There have been some good yellowfin tuna bites between the Baltimore and Poor Man's Canyons. Fish have popped up in 70 to 100 fathoms, mostly from the 150 line south. Crews trolling spreader bars, Green Machines and skirted ballyhoos hooked nice sized tuna from 40 to 70 pounds. Some boats had numbers in double digits. White marlin were reported in the same area. Other billfish came from warm water in the Baltimore as well. Anglers aboard the boat Lil' Man released 3 sailfish and 3 white marlin, along with 3 yellowfins they put in the box. Dolphin have been prevalent in the warm water too. Mahi have been hanging out under lobster gear buoys and any other floating stuff. Ed Sigda and the guys on Snow Goose returned Thursday with 13 nice dolphin they pulled off some floats in the Baltimore. Dolphin ventured inshore with the heat as well. Bill Fintel was trolling a spoon behind a planer at the East Lump Thursday when he caught a 21.1 pound bull. A few bluefins lingered inshore, but it seems most moved on because of higher water temperatures. Julie Nelson decked a 55.8 pounder Saturday while trolling a green machine spreader bar at the Chicken Bone aboard Spoiled III. Ocean bottom fishermen found fluke on the Old Grounds and other rough bottom south and southeast of DB Buoy. Wes Olson checked in with a limit of quality flatfish including a 5.4 and a 6.4 pounder. Wes caught those and several others using a Gulp! and shiner combo. In Delaware Bay, flounder action has been up and down. Joe Walker and friends fished reef site 5 Wednesday, putting 10 keepers in the box. They returned to the same spot Thursday, but only had 4 legal fish. Boaters picked at fluke on other reef sites too, with reports of some flatties at sites 6, 7 and 8. The Star Site Reef holds good numbers of croakers, but they're not real big. Most range from 8 to 10 inches. There have been spot, kingfish and blowfish mixed in. The panfish preferred bloodworms, Fishbites, clams and shrimp. Spot moved into the Lewes Canal as well, and varied from smaller bait sized to eaters larger than your hand. The spot bit best at the end of incoming tide on bloodworms and Fishbites. Slot stripers were also caught in the Canal by guys fishing clams on the bottom. Tautog action cooled off in the hot weather. A few blackfish were taken along the Outer Wall. Triggerfish were feeding in the rocks, they could be caught using sand fleas and shrimp. Sheepshead were also roaming the rocks. Herbie Shorthose pulled a whopping 12.89 pound sheepshead from the Ice Breakers.

Just One More charters Fishing Report, Highlands, NJ, 7-24-10

    FISHING REPORT, 7/23/10
THERE ARE PLENTY OF FLUKE OUT THERE BUT AT TIMES IT IS TOUGH TO LAND KEEPERS. THE KEEPERS WE DO LAND ARE UP TO 23" AND MANY FISH ARE JUST UNDER THE 18" LIMIT. THERE IS PLENTY OF ACTION WITH UP TO 60 FLAT FISH CAUGHT EACH TRIP. BLUEFISH ARE OFF SHORE, AROUND THE MUD BUOY AREA, TO BE CHUMMED UP. THERE HAVE EVEN BEEN REPORTS OF BONITO AND FALSE ALBIES SHOWING UP IN THE SLICKS. SEA BASS ARE OVER THE ROUGHT BOTTOM LIKE THE ARTIFICIAL REEF AND THE SHREWSBURY ROCKS.
A GOOD TRIP NOW WOULD BE TO GO BLUEFISH CHUMMING AND IF SOMEONE WANTS, ALL THEY HAVE TO DO IS DROP DOWN AND CATCH SOME NICE SEA BASS. WE COULD THEN FINISH THE TRIP FLUKING ALONG THE BEACH.

I HAD A REPORT FROM A FRIEND IN THE MARINA WHO TROLLED A LIMIT OF STRIPED BASS DOWN AT THE ROCKS. HE SAID IT WAS NON STOP ACTION AS SOON AS THEY PUT THE RIGS IN. THAT IS A POSSIBLE TRIP ALSO, AND IT COULD BE FINISHED UP BY FLUKE FISHING.

MONDAY, JULY 26 WILL BE AN OPEN BOAT DATE. FULL DAY FLUKE FISHING WITH EVERYTHING INCLUDED. THERE WILL BE A REDUCED PRICE OF $80.00 PER ANGLER. CALL TO RESERVE YOUR SPOT. 908-472-2684.

    THANKYOU,

The Fishermen Fishing Report, Altantic Highlands, NJ, 7-24-10

    Atlantic Highlands Fishing Reports

    Fishermen Fishing report 7/23/10
Had the "Change of tide bite today"on the first couple drifts.... good action with more keepers than shorts. Got a few drifts out of it before everyone who was out today beat it up.
Tried a new area only to find crappy conditions, a couple sea bass and short fluke....Had another bite going on the change once again late in the afternoon.

Mike and his fishing pal Leslie combined for 7 nice keepers, including Mikes
7 1/2 pound pool fish! Hammer Tom had a very nice 5 pound fish make the deep six once it saw the net and headed for the bottom!!!

Getting sick of calling 17 to 17 3/4 inch fish "SHORTS" total BS!!
A 14 inch fish in Foodtown is a "SHORT" in my book (but yet, perfectly legal).

Chatered Saturday and Sunday Morning this weekend...
