New Jersey Bait and Tackle shops and charter boat reports 8-29
Saltwater Report: 8/29/2010
Not too many reports off the surf because I bet most just enjoyed the nice day. Few keeper fluke on Gulp (our Gulp and squid sale is still on) and some bluefish on metals, bunker, or mullet. Reefs and wreaks are starting to produce some good fluke now. Yesterday the swell wasn't that bad.
Bay / Jetty Report: 8/29/2010
Had a few reports that fluke (mostly shorts), kingfish, and a few blowfish were caught from Barnegat Bay, Great Bay and Tuckerton Bay. Also a few weakfish were caught out of Barnegat Bay. Crabbing is still going strong.
Fresh Water Report: 8/29/2010
WOW what a day to be fishing and fishing people did. I can not list all the places people caught fish but I can tell you this. I had reports of bass, crappie, pickeral, sunnies, catfish and a few crap being caught.

Another Pretty Day
Sunday, August, 29, 2010 at 3:35AM
Ya gotta love it when the weather idiots cant find a raindrop to focus on - Sunny...hot with highs in the lower 90s. West winds 5 to 10 mph. You got it! Beach Day!!
Only 9 days left in the Fluke season so get em while you can. We didnt get a lot of reports from the beach yesterday. It seems that everybody went there and just stayed to enjoy a beautiful day. We did have a couple of guys come back for more mullet after an encounter with the small blues and the Fluke are still biting with Gulp as the bait of choice.
If you have the ability to learn from your mistakes, Mike should be able to open his own university soon!

10 Days of Fluke to go!
We are rapidly running out of time to get your fill of Fluke. Make time to go or dont complain if the weather changes and blows you out, and you should know how quickly the weather can change this time of year.
The weather should be no problem today - Sunny. Highs in the lower 80s. North winds 5 to 10 mph... becoming northeast this afternoon. The weather idiots are leaving us alone so take advantage of it.
The last couple of days have had some 12 lb Bluefish hung on the scale! They are taking assorted metals and bunker or mullet. The Fluking is still good on the surf (only 10 days left, remember) and bucktails with GULP is still a best bet. More of those rumors of keeper Bass are floating around. Be nice to see them on my scale.
I think Mike has a new plan - The sooner he gets behind, the more time he has to catch up!

Jingles Bait and Tackle fishing report, Beach Haven 8-29-10
Sun Aug 29th
Nice cool morning to sleep in. We have a WNW breeze. Ocean temp is 75 this am. Looks like a hot week ahead but you got to love the cool nights and warm days.
We are luck to have such nice weather with these storms passing off our coast. Please be careful of the the rip currents and swells.
The people that are here this week want to fish. Looks like after today we will have a break from the currents until Earl makes his presence later in the week. Lots of varieties to catch at this time of the year. More stripers are showing up in the surf along with bluefish and fluke. I have heard of just a few kingfish since last Sunday probably because of the swells.
Boaters had a good day in the ocean yesterday with fluke and seabass. The bay is a few short fluke.
Sat Aug 28th
Big Bluefish on the North end again today.
We just got some Fresh Bunker! Give it a try and lets see if some of those big guys are down here. More sharks in the bunker schools again.
Fresh spearing, blood-worms, live clams, and live minnows available too. Good fluke bite this am from surf mostly shorts and some small blues on mullet and mullet rigs. Ocean is real nice right now.
Nice ride out to Garden State South for Victor this am and it was worth the ride. He had this 7-7 fluke and a 4-4. Victor wishes he had the one that he couldn't get off the bottom.
This morning a 4:30am it is 65 here at the beach wth a N wnd about 5 and ocean temp 74. Mainland temps are showing below 60 this am. With those temps some bait will be moving.
Take advantage of the morning. Looks like it will be fishable and this after-noon some swells will be here from Danielle.
Lots of cars here last night and the motels are packed here this am for this beautiful weekend. Make sure you have a safe one especially from surf condtions.
Bluefish seem to be getting more abundant day by day on the surf and the fluke are also still there. Mullet and gulp are still the baits of choice.
Garden Stare South was the better spot for catching fluke yesterday.
More folks finding croakers on Little Egg Reef and inshore of the wrecks.

Scotts Bait and Tackle, Mystic Island,Fishing report 8-29-10
Saturday, August 28, 2010 /\/\/\ 6:11pm
"Long period swell from Hurricane Danielle will affect the coastal waters of Delaware and New Jersey into Monday." Quoted right off of Wunderground.com. What does that mean for us? Good chance the Little Egg Inlet will be unfriendly. West winds tomorrow five to ten, which is good news. I thought a North East blow was going to build seas and make the ocean a no-go tomorrow.
We received scattered reports of fluke catches today. No big numbers, just a couple of keepers here and there, but nice to see the bite back on again. The swell may set back the bite though. Some of the catches came from the GSS reef and the LE reef, while other catches were reported within reasonable distance of the Rutgers Buoys.
There was a big gang of folks doing the Kingfish fishing thing off of Graveling Point today. Unfortunately, no one came back though with details about their catches.
George Plate found four twenty six to thirty two inch Mahi-Mahi today. You can bet his grill is cooking right now! (George's comment was that he should be taking them out to dinner...they cost that much to catch due to the distance he went to get them. ~ MizMo)
