New Jersey Bait and Tackle shops, 7-08-10

    Saltwater Report:

    7/7/2010
The most I am hearing from the few that are fishing the surf is fluke. Yup, that's right, some good size fluke are being caught off the surf. Best spots are around jetties but there are some being caught from the beaches as well.

    Bay / Jetty Report:

    7/7/2010
Fluke and now snappers are the only action in the bays that I heard of. This is a good sign and the kingfish and blowfish should be showing up soon. Lots of fluke are being boated but the keeper ratio is still pretty poor. At least most are now getting a dinner out of it. Crabbing is doing real nice now. The last full moon helped a lot. People are getting a few dozen crabs in a couple of hours now.

    Fresh Water Report:

    7/7/2010
Few tried their luck yesterday in the heat. Few bass were caught but that is about it. Water levels are very low no matter where you are fishing. This makes the weed problem very bad.

Grumpy's Bait and Tackle Fishing Report, Seaside Park, 7-08-10

    Still gonna be hot!
    Wednesday, July, 7, 2010 at 5:02AM
A little less brutal perhaps, but still beyond the comfort zone. The evil weatherman came up with this - Mostly sunny...hot with highs in the lower 90s. North winds 5 to 10 mph...becoming east this afternoon. If the fools have the east wind right, the beach is sounding like a pretty good place to be!
After the long holiday weekend, it was kinda quiet around town while everybody either rested up or (gasp) went back to the annoying day job. Rick Raub went on a search mission and turned up a nice Fluke and a nice Bass. Crabbing in the bay is pretty good and the snapper fishing seems to improve daily.
You can still get into the Garbage Fish Tournament! It runs thru the end of the month and is a lot of fun for the whole family. Registration forms are available in the store or do it online and get all the info at:

I think Mike has taken his dogs admiration as conclusive proof that he is wonderful.

Unlike Grump at least someone likes me. I hear his dog tries to bite his leg off every time he comes home.....

Jingles Bait and Tackle Fishing Report, Beach Haven 7-08-10

    Jingles Bait and Tackle

    Wed July 7th

    Another hot one!

If you were one on the lucky 8. Simply Bassin prizes are headed back to where you weighed your fish. Thanks to all that took part in Simply Bassin 2010 and Congratulations to all the winners.

80 degrees at 5:30 and very humid with not enough wind ( N ) to move the flag. Ocean is 69 this am.

With the good weather forecast a lot of boats headed offshore during the night.

The beach had a very quiet day yesterday only a few fluke in the wash late in the day.

Lindsey and Pat had a couple of fish for the Garbage Fish Tournament. An 8 pound dogfish for Lindsey puts her in 2nd and a 3-4 skate puts Pat in 3rd.

Scotts Bait and Tackle, Mystic Island,Fishing Report 7-08-10

    Scott's Daily Fishing Report

    July 7, 2010 /\/\/\ 5:12pm
Sorry I have been slacking, missing a daily report now and again. It's hard to write when it's just the same thing over and over again. I would love some new "Breaking News"!
The fishing is pretty much in a fixed state. Anglers keep sneaking a big fluke out of the little guys now and again. Today's big fish were 10.0 29 1/2" caught by Rich Hood in the Tuckerton Bay and Joe Homoki captured a 6.7 pound 26" out near the Little Egg Reef Site. Other anglers are finding more keepers on the Tuckerton Bay side too. I also had a report of some keeper activity in the Little Egg Inlet. That I suppose is new news as the Inlet was pretty empty of fluke last week.
It's not to late to get into the Sunshine Foundation Fluke Tournament this weekend. We are still taking applications at the store or the last chance you can sign up is at the Captains Meeting on Friday night, 6:00pm at Great Bay Marina.

Seafood Charters Fishing Report, Forked River, NJ, 7-08-10

    We Got Blues

    Capt John
    Jul 07|20:07
was out Monday with the whole Carrigg family. We headed north 30 miles, but the ride was worth it. We had blues on consistently all day long. On the way in we stopped on a few spots for some good fluke action. The canyons are heating up with loads of yellowfin and marlin. Book your trip early as this is going to be a good season! I feel it! Capt. John

    Fluke In The Bay

    Capt John
    Jul 07|19:39
Was out with 4 generations of the Dapkewicz family. We fished the bay for fluke with some action, but no keepers. All had a blast and the kids never caught a fish before, so the trip was great! I love first timers. Capt. John
