New jersey Bait and tackle shop report 7-10
Saltwater Report:
7/9/2010
Scattered reports of a few stripers off the LBI and IBSP surf. It could be because there isn't many fishing. Rick reported a few keeper fluke while fishing from his boat in about 60 feet of water. Other then that reports have been slow.
Bay / Jetty Report:
7/9/2010
Fluke and trigger fish are being caught off the Barnegat Inlet jetties. Barnegat Bay, Great Bay and Tuckerton Bay is producing some catch of keeper fluke. Most are still throw backs. The Intercoastal Waterway in Tuckerton Bay, clam stakes in Great Bay are your best bets. Barnegat Bay I have not heard of any hot spots lately or it is about the same throughout the bay. Seems just about everything is working but Gulp seems to work just a bit better still. There is also snappers in the bays now. Crabbing is going really good now.
Fresh Water Report:
7/9/2010
Only a handful of people fishing but had reports of some bass, sunnies, and catfish being caught. Water levels in all bodies of water are low. Most lakes and ponds are the color of coffee with some cream in it.

Grumpy's Bait and Tackle Fishing Report, Seaside Park, 7-10-10
Mostly confused!
Friday, July, 9, 2010 at 4:48AM
That pretty much sums up the report. We had less than capacity crowds of fishermen this week, likely due to the heat wave and also resting up after the long holiday weekend. Reports of Bass came in all week long but most were not backed up by weigh-ins and remain suspect. Blues seem to be on a hit and run schedule with no regard for time and tide. Fluking off the beach is good for some guys and frustrating for others. If you are one of the others, Ray works from noon till 8 pm today and you should make him show you his bucktail/teaser/gulp setup. Snappers in the bay have taken lessons from their big brothers and the daily hotspot is constantly changing locations. Confused? Yeah, me too!
The evil weatherman took some time off from his usual scare tactics of t-storms and has come up with this - Partly sunny. Scattered showers and thunderstorms... mainly this afternoon. Patchy fog this morning. Some thunderstorms may produce heavy rainfall this afternoon. Highs in the mid 80s. East winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 30 percent. Gotta read that twice and still not sure what he said.
We got part of the Calcutta T-Shirt order yesterday with some new designs and colors but the rest of order is MIA.
Finally, to complete the confusion, we have Mike! No need to explain that!

The big brown sharks have also shown up in the surf at night. Bunker is the bait of choice. Get them while they′re here. Grump is so confused he′s like a dog chasing his tail. He goes round and round and round and can′t figure out why he′s so dizzy......

Jingles Bait and Tackle Fishing Report, Beach Haven 7-20-10
Jingles Bait and Tackle
Fri July 9th
When one of the boats was headed offshore ( 30 miles off) yesterday they realize they forgot their gaff. After missing a few fish they decided to make a gaff out of their boat hook-duct tape and a bunker spoon. (Gotta luv it)
This morning was a surfers delight and not a boaters delight for the ocean had some 4-5 foot swells.Fluke fishing in the bay seems to be the main fishery going on with more keepers in the intercoastal than the inlet.
The offshore guys did okay yesterday also. Fish Trap had some yellowfin and a 500 pound blue. Drew Meztlers new boat did real well again with tuna.
Surf has more cownose rays again and the sand tiger sharks have apeared again. The browns should be here soon with the high water temps.
Muggy!!!!
At 5 am it is 77 and very humid this morning. A lite NE breeze and a water temp of 77.
Living at the beach we seem to be somewhat cooler but humidity has been bad. One customer in yesterday came from NW New Jersey and had a temp 0f 117. He though it was great that it was only 99 here.

The big Sunshine Foundation fluke tournament is tommorrow. The weather looks iffy for comfortable dry fishing conditions. The forecast isn't for much wind, so if the thunderstorms hold off until the afternoon, it should be fishible most of the day. Lets hope the weatherman missed the mark and we get a fair fishing day.
Ocean anglers found not so friendly seas. It didn't take much Easterly blow to convince the offshore tuna anglers to make a return trip. Inshore fluke anglers might find it to choppy on Saturday morning.

Atlantic Highlands Fishing Reports
Fishermen Party Boat/Fluke fishing report 7/9/10
Some very nice fish again today including Wayne Mellon, Union N.J. pool winning 4 1/5 pounder, along with 4 keepers.
"Bucktail" John was back again after yesterdays 9 beauties, today he managed 4. Mikes daughter Alison (first time fluke fisherwomen) hung in there tossing back the shorts all day and was rewarded with a very nice 4 pounder at the end of the day.
Bait worked a bit better than the bucktails for some also.
Watched some pretty good storms move to the North of us all day, but we never had a drop!! Don't let that keep you home, it's summer and your gonna hear that everyday from now till Labor day.
Chartered Sunday Morning.

Fisherman's Headquarters Fishing Report, Ship Bottom, NJ, 7-10-10
July 9, 2010
Received: Jul 9, 2010 3:33 PM Subject: Back Bay Fluke Fishing on the Hi Flier. Red Hot Jigging Right Now!
"USUALLY, I don't fluke." That is what I usually tell everyone that calls for this type of fishing. Not that there's anything wrong with fluke fishing, it's just not my thing...usually.
This is not USUALLY. I like to jig them with light tackle when they are stacked up in the channels and that is the scene right now. Sure, they are mostly throwbacks, but the action is non-stop with every size class of fish present. At the end of the morning, we had three nice fluke in the cooler, a 21" and a pair of 20" fish. We caught all of them drifting and vertical jigging with 3/8 ounce jigheads tipped with Gulp! We had both 3" white swimming mullet and 3" new penny shrimp on and the nod definitely went to the swimming mullet today. There are a lot of small fish but almost as many 15" to 17" fish for sport and then the occassional 3 pound plus fish for the cooler. The bulk of the action was at the top of Oyster Creek Channel where it converges with Double Creek Channel from the tip of the Dike all the way across to the sedges on the Island Beach side.
I am going to run open boat trips Saturday and Sunday, twice daily 5:30 AM to 10:30 AM and 11AM to 4PM targeting these fish. If the ocean is calm and the majority opts to run offshore to Barnegat Ridge or the reefs for sea bass, I can combo the fluke effort with any other kind of fishing and change the hours or duration of the trip as needed.

Fished on the Miss Barnegat Light two times in the past week for bluefish and the fishing couldn't be any better. All the fish you could want on both bait and jigs up to 15 lbs.! A very comfortable boat to fish on with an excellent Crew to take care of all of your needs.
