New to Jersey

Hey All, just moved here from Wisconsin and live in Lawrenceville near the R&D Canal by the Mercer Mall... wondering what type of fish are in that area of the canal, what to use, and if they are healthy? thanks for the help.

Not too familiar with that area, but the spring shad run should be starting soon in the Delaware, and I think they get some stripers at certain times of the year

I haven't been up that way in a long time but if I remember correctly you should be able to get some smallmouth out of the canal. We used to bow fish for carp up that way too.

I think they may even stock trout a little south of you on RT 1 just passed where the DMV was (Bakers Basin)
