    Mud Hole Tuna???

Has anyone fished for Tuna in the Mud Hole or close to it? Don't want to go all the way to the Hudson for a short day of trolling. Any suggestions?

Tuna have been spread from day to day along the mud hole. no steady bite though, better reports have been from the glory hole, but still not steady yet but there have been a lot more reports of bluefin caught in this area. We put a 75lb bft in the box weekend of mako mania on the way in on day 1 since we did not have a mako to weigh. fish are there, but not spread out, mostly in schools yet. fished way south yesterday in high rollers tourney and had guys near us on the 20 and 30 fathm line picking at decent bft as well so you are not limited to the mud hole, target lumps as well. the bait is there...troll WWB and a planer for sure since many of the fish will hold deep unless they are schooling and chasing bait on top right now. Running a line as close to the thermocline as possible is the ticket right now. Did hear reports of guys catching mahi in as close as the ledge yesterday looking for bft, but no bluefin for most. Also, troll smaller lures, 4-6" feathers are great, especially jap feathers since they are narrow and thin and match the hatch well, also keep a bigger ballyhoo out there at all times, especially off the planer.
