LBI Fishing 1/01/10: New Years day we sailed with a light crowd. The water temperature today was 41 degrees. Sea conditions were perfect! Our first stop was the best with plenty of life. Several guys had 3 keepers however, there was a lot of shorts caught as well. Whole crabs and shrimp seemed to have worked best. By 11:30 our bite slowed down so I tryed 2 other stops which did not produce much maybe 2 or 3 keepers. Pool winner today was Al from Lawrenceville NJ with a 4 lb tog. I cant believe we sailed two days in a row as we all know the weather has been terrible pretty much every weekend and through out the week. It looks like we are going to lose the first weekend of the new year due to gale force winds. What else is new! (lol!) Hopefully we will be at it again next weekend if the weather permits .
LBI Fishing 12/31/09: We sailed on Thursday New year eve with a pretty nice crowd on board. We had very poor conditions, water temperature was 39.5 degrees, with snow, sleet and rain most of the morning. There was a slight swell out of the south and no wind or current all day. It was next to impossible to keep the boat anchored. At about 1:15 we finally got a slight breeze which put an end to my frustration so we stayed out an extra hour. There was a fare amount of shorts caught but by the end of the day we had 14 keepers on board .
