The fishing...and more importantly, the catching...has been excellent the past couple of weeks. We are having a ton of fun with bluefish up in the bay, mostly from 2-5 pounds. This size is excellent to eat as they have not been feeding on the oily foods/chum all summer which results in the lesser quality meat that has been associated with the bluefish. These fish are truly excellent table fare, provide an excellent fight, and are available in numbers. I say taketh what thou hath been giveth...and so we do.

We have been sitting at the dock this week experiencing our second May Nor'easter this year. According to the NWS, this has been the 3rd coldest May recorded since they have been keeping records for the past 130+ years. The current forecast is for a nice Memorial Day weekend, so enjoy it.

Some recent highlights include:

5/9 - Brendan Sheehan and his party of postal workers caught their limit of bluefish (15/person), then went offshore to catch tog to 5 pounds.

5/13 - Shared Charter/Open Boat charter got the first lick on the 2-3 pound sea bass that make their way inshore, including one of the largest ling I've seen inshore in quite some time (I thought it was a cod when I first saw it come over the rail from the other side of the boat).

5/14 - Nasty conditions on the ocean didn't keep the Dave Creasy party from catching their limit of bluefish.

5/15 - On an evening trip, Kimber catches a 34.5" striped bass on spinning tackle in amonsgt the bluefish.

5/22, 5/23 - The Mike Deleo and Doug Rainey (respectively) charters catch their limits of bluefish and then go offshore and put together some good catches of sea bass, as well.
