I've got my new design: I'm going to use 3/4" or 1" (whatever it may be) coated wire mesh, hog ring it together in a cylindrical shape. Then I'll cut a top and bottom to fit and hog ring them on. Cut a big door in the top and use loosely attached hog rings as hinges and use bungee cord to keep the door shut. I can use some black decoy line to keep it hanging off the bottom and tie it off where no one will see it.

Proheat, thanks for the bloodline and bunker tip - thats a great idea.

Hog rings are kind of like a staple. It's a piece of wire that is crimped together with a special pair of pliers to make a fastener. I'm having a hard time describing them actually. A lot of watermen will use them on their lines as a backup to their knots. They'll tie their knot, and hog ring off the tag end as assurance that nothing has a chance to slip. I've actually just overlapped the line and slapped three hog rings on in lieu of tying a knot at all. Sorry for the crappy description. They're cheap, and everyone should own them.

we basically did the same thing it works great....we used plastic mesh instead and its a little smaller.....we also got plastic tubing to make the top and bottom and the door

the only problem with the plastic is it callapses on itself cause its not sturdy enough

i got boored and drew this haha

the red is the door it is kind of like a half moon

we used the plastic tubing to make the door, works perfect

and dont get too small of holes because they start to fill up with crus if it stays in the water too long

    Here It Is...

Well, here it is... But I can't take credit for it. My buddy Tim made it for me. It just kinda worked out that way. Timing was perfect! It should hold 60-70 fish. I'm going to need a few more, but this wll get us going.

I made a similar pen.I have it tied to my dock, but I submerge it so it sits on the bottom, then only the cord shows, and only a little piece of that...the less visible the less chance to have 'em stolen......

    Good Idea NWmed !!
For some reason, spot are expensive in the tackle shops and some lowlife people figure that it is easier to steal them than either buy them or catch them thierselves!!
