Make-up trips targeting 150 lb + Bluefin and canyon Mako's
We are starting a list of anglers that would like to join us on 14-hour day trips for the big Bluefin down off the Virginia coast (Lumpy Bottom area). These fish run anywhere from 90 lbs up to 175 lbs plus. The regulations allow 3 fish per day per boat now and we expect to see the tuna bite start by mid-June this season. We will also go into the deep for early season Yellowfin if they show up which could happen with the warmer water offshore. If you would like to try for a really big Mako over 300 lbs, we will being doing early season 24 & 36 hour trips targeting the bigger bluefin during the day and then moving out into the Washington, Poorman's or even the tip of the Norfolk at night for the true canyon monster Mako's.
These trips will be run by our Captain Mark Deblasio. Capt. Mark ran a canyon overnight trip to the Hudson over Thanksgiving weekend last season. He had 15 bluefin and kept one as the regulations allowed at 240 lbs. Capt. Mark also had a 400 lb Mako early season last June. Our mate worked on the Realistic with the late Capt Bill Verbanas when Capt Billy caught his record 975 lb Mako so we know how to catch big fish. Our new 55 custom Carolina has the speed and size to fish anywhere within 150 miles of Cape May, including the Hudson Canyon, if that is where the best bite is. The new 55 is going to be the one of the fastest and finest charter boats on the entire East Coast without question. These should be great early season offshore trips and if interested contact us and we put you on our list. We are available for regular charters with up to 6 and we will also be doing some make up charters for small parties and singles. Capt Mark Deblasio is one of the top offshore captains for tuna anywhere and caught more tuna last season than anyone we know of period. When it comes to offshore fishing, Capt Mark is one of the best plus a really nice guy. Capt Mark is one of the speakers at the Canyon Runner winter seminars as well and fishes with us down in North Carolina for giant bluefin tuna. We encourage active participation and teach our customers new techniques such as using light tackle for catching big tuna while chunking, trolling with deep running planners as we do in Morehead City, NC for big tuna, using spreader bars plus rigging and other techniques to catch large tuna.
