Surfergirl, they fish all around TX, mostly around Galv, and PINS(Padre Island National Seashore)
I did not get my yak yet, but i got one in mind.
Guy I know in the marines, is departing in June, and selling me his NICE kayak.
kayak was 400$ new, and he is throwing in a 120$ depth finder.
ONLY wants 225$ FOR IT!!!!!!!! As soon as i sell my calcutta, im gonna snatch it up. he is going to hold it for me , so not a humongous hurry.
but i would like to get it pretty soon, and practice before summer.
gonna throw my wetsuit on, that i used for diving, incase i flip that sucker in the surf. i wanna practice launching from the surf, and running through some waves, annd going a little offshore.
I think that i should be able to go atleast a mile out sometimes, maybe even more. Know some people in TX that go out to nearshore Oil Rigs, that are like 4 miles out.
Would be so fun to catch a king, or shark, or even tarpon from the Yak'.
Murph, they are pretty careful with them sharks, if u hold them by their fin and their head outa the water they are pretty safe. Except for stickin fingers near their teeth.
I want to take the yak on the ocean on the calm days, catch some bait in sound, and drag my bait bucket.
Ill be able to use WICKED light line, like 10lb test, and troll some like mullet around :-)
would like to start during the day, a ways from dark, so that if i get drug around, i can paddle back.
they yak im going to buy from that guy , if big enuf to put a trolling motor on it. I got a good motor guide i could stick on that , incase i get really tired, or long ride in.
I just got a handheld GPS , so ill program that puppy :-) .

I have a Wilderness Systems 140 and love it. Haven't caught a ton from hit yet but have had some fun. There are a bunch of guys up here in Delmarva that yak out bait for sharks a good bit.
Good luck with yours when you get it. Don't take too much gear aboard they're easy to dump in the surf.
GREAT PICS JEESE JAMES.......CONGRATS ON GETTING THIS FORUM STARTED....NOW I WANT SOME PICS OF YOU TWO CATERET KILLERS DOING YOUR THING 20 MILES SOUTH OF ME......
YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO TO TEXAS TO DO THIS YA KNOW THIS IS BACKYARD MATERIAL....AND I HOPE TO SEE YOU IN THE PICS!!!!!
NOT TOO LONG AGO IN BEAUFORT NC......A GUY SHARK FISHING FRM A YAK WAS FOUND DROWN...................SAFETY SAFETY......AIN'T NUTHIN WRONG WITH A VEST
I am very familiar with the guys that caught the sharks as well as Jesse, I think its important to note here that those guys are die hards about sharking and conservation - all those sharks were released with out harm!
One of those Texas boys here... just found this site. Was looking for info on South Jersey fishing as I will be up there in June for a week. My wife's family lives about an hour from Cape May...
