8/1/09 - OC Marlin Club Ladies Tourney - Fished with Team Reel Pink Tales. Headed for the Washington Canyon. Went 1 for 2 on whitey & had a bunch of dolphin. The whites were with some pilot whales. Find the whales, find whitey. 8/3/09 - WMO Day 1 - Back to the Washington. Back on the whales, back on Whitey. Fished next to the True Grit all day. Boated a 70" white, released a small white, too. Raised 5 whites total. The white was 62.5lbs. We picked at dolphin all day.8/5/09 - WMO Day 2 - Back to the Washington again. No whales, no whitey. We did raise a blue, but the angler misplayed him. Bye-bye. Boated a few dolphin, one being a nice 20lb bull under a ball. 8/6/09 - WMO Day 3 - We figured the whales (& whites) had moved north. We found the whales in the Baltimore Canyon. Shortly thereafter a blue marlin was slashing some baits. Hooked the blue & released him after a 40 min. fight. Nice fish, 300-350lbs. That was it for the day. We had birds, slicks, whales, plenty of marks on the sounder, and spotted a finning blue marlin, but nothing was biting. All in all good tournaments, just the fish were not big enough. We still have an opening for the OC Marlin Club Labor Day Marlin Tourney. http://www.laststrawcharters.com/ |
