Just found this picture that was posted on another forum back in January of 2008 and thought it looked familiar.

Most all carolina boats are flat in the stern... The sharp entry is to cu through the sea's and the flat stern lays it out. very common design. There is a critical weight to length to beam ratio that create this ride. Requires a very heavy hull, also why wood or cold moulded boats are popular.
