Lake Chickahominy report 9-1
Capt. Art Conway of Conway's River Rat Guide Service (804-746-2475) out of Ed Allen's Boats and Bait reported that Chickahominy Lake mid-day water temperatures were in the mid to high 80's on Wednesday. The lake level had fallen about 6 inches and was even with the top of the dam. A few bluegill, crappie and yellow perch were still on some of the main lake weed flats.
Moderate numbers of bass were still scattered in the creeks and out on the main lake flats, especially early in the mornings. Some bass were on wood cover or around cypress trees, but most were in weed beds. Wright Bait Co.
two inch curly tail grubs, swim baits, and live minnows were the most effective baits for crappie and yellow perch. Fishing with Capt. Conway, Hollis Pruitt had 6 crappie, 14 yellow perch, 4 bluegill, and 4 bass.
