apt. Art Conway of Conway's River Rat Guide Service (804-746-2475) out of Ed Allen's Boats and Bait reported that Chickahominy Lake mid-day water temperatures were in the high 80's to low 90's on Wednesday. The lake level had come up several inches since last week, but was still well below full pool. Some bluegill, crappie and a few nice yellow perch were still around the creek mouths and on main lake weed flats. Moderate numbers of bass were still scattered in the creeks and out on the main lake flats early in the mornings. Wright Bait Co. two inch curly tail grubs, tubes, swim baits, and live minnows were the most effective baits for crappie and yellow perch.
Fishing with Capt. Conway, Randy and James Covington and Guri Negi had 9 crappie, 2 yellow perch, 2 bluegill, 1 warmouth, 1 shiner, and 1 bass.
