Capt. Art Conway of Conway's River Rat Guide Service (804-746-2475) out of Ed Allen's Boats and Bait reported that Chickahominy Lake mid-day water temperatures were in the mid to high 40's in the lower lake and in the mid 40's in the upper lake on Wednesday. The lake level was over a foot above the top of the dam. The water was dark and cloudy but not obviously muddy in the lower lake. Crappie were scattered over the mid-depth channels throughout the lake and were hitting Wright Bait Co. and Southern Pro one and two inch curly tail grubs, tubes, blade baits, and live minnows.
Fishing with Capt. Conway, Capt. Bill Buck had 20 crappie, 4 bass, 1 white perch and 1 shellcracker. Hollis Pruitt had 32 crappie.
