Harbor Tackle Fishing Report July 3, 2009
Happy 4th of July.
Not too much of anything happening unless you like undersized flounder. The beach is producing rays, skates, small flounder, kings, blues, and sharks. Lots of flounder in the bay; however, most are under legal size. Legal flounder are about 20 – 25% of an angler’s total catch. Most of the legals are hitting live spot and Berkley Gulp. Trigger fish and tog at the Inlet and between 2nd and 4th Streets. A few legal stripers have been reported at the Rt. 50 Bridge and in the Inlet. Croakers have been hit or miss. They are just starting to show up in the bay and in the surf. Darin Turner caught a 3.86 lb 22 ˝ pound flounder and Chris Wilkinson hooked up with a 2.8 lb 19 inch flounder. Both were taken from the Rt. 50 Bridge. Bill Snyder caught a 25 inch 5.99 lb flounder from 4th Street using live spot for bait.
