Charity Striped Bass Contest At Off The Hook at Hinch Marina


November 3 2010 - On Saturday, November 6, the New Jersey Carpenters Local 1743 will host the 4th Annual High Tides Striper Tournament to benefit the Brendan Borek High Tides Memorial Fund which supports Cape May County families who have a child or young adult with cancer.




First place payout is $3,000, with $1,000 going towards the second place crew, $500 to third place, $400 to fourth and $300 prize for fifth. There will also be a new children's category for anglers 12 & under with top prizes for first, second and third place. Sea Tow will again sweeten the winner's pot with an extra $250 kicker provided the winner is a Sea Tow member.


A $50 entry fee not only allows anglers to fish the tournament but gains entry to the Awards Dinner and free gourmet dinner on Saturday after the tourney. There will also be free hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar at the captains meeting which is set for Friday, November 5th at 7 p.m. at Hinch Marina.


As tournament co-sponsors again in 2010, the Recreational Fishing Alliance (RFA) will staff a table at the captains meeting all day on Friday during sign-ups, raising money for the RFA Legal Defense Fund to help fight the black sea bass closure while also taking memberships for the year ahead.


The first 50 new or renewing RFA members at the 3rd Annual High Tides Striper Tournament captains meeting on Friday (sign up from 1 p.m. right up until the 7 p.m. captains meeting) will also receive a complimentary ARC 16" Dehooker, perfect for safe, 'wet' release of those linesides that don't make the tournament cut this weekend (ARC Dehookers are also ideal for safely dealing with deep-hooked stripers and smooth or spiny doggies.)
