FISHING REPORT
Mon Aug 29th
This morning we have a lite wind from the north. The air is 62 and the ocean is 71. Well here we are the day after Irene or a week before Labor Day.
Once again we want to thank everyone for their support thru the storm. The ocean was very dirty yesterday so we will have to see how long it takes till we here of anything being caught up there. Lots of work ahead of folks to get their boats back it for the rest of the season but there looks to be good weather ahead for that.
Will there be any fluke left in the bay or how far off the beach will you be? Will the snappers still be on the street ends? Kingfish will you be biting again along with the big snappers from the surf? Tuna are you hungry once the boats get back offshore and will you want fish to be chunked to you or on the troll or jig. Lots of questions that only take time to find the answers.
Will Holgate open on time? When we hear anything on that we will pass it along.
Sun Aug 28th
Thank you all for your thoughts and concerns thru this storm.
We will re-open tomorrow at 6 am.
As of 2:30 pm the bridge is open for all.
We are so lucky. Here on LBI we lost a few days of business but I still have my business and I still have this beautiful island to live on. The storm could have been a disaster but the winds died out and it moved out quickly. The only time I ever left the island was in August of 1976. We did not have notice and by the time I left it was in the hard rain and wind. It took 10 hours to get off. This time we had notice and people got to leave before conditions got bad...
We have made it thru the night with little problems. The highest ocean tide seemed to be last night when we had the heavy rain and wind. The rain came to a stop around 11 and the wind stopped for awhile. The reports are that the eye came over Little Egg Inlet around 5:30 am.
We had the sun come out here this morning and even a rainbow. Reports of a tornado in Surf City but I can not confirm that.
What a week earthquake, hurricane, tornado and a rainbow.
Seems like all is good here on the island so far. We still have to get thru the high tide in the bay. Cross your fingers!!
From tv reports alot of our friends have no electric and have some flooding issues. Good luck to all of you.
This picture was taken on my own street in Beach Haven Park at high tide this am.

I hate having storms at night when you can't see what is going on.
The hard rain started here around 4pm. It is now 10 pm and we have had wind gusts to 60. There is some flooding in the street but I think only from the hard rain. Tomorrow mornings tide will be the one to worry about for tidal flooding. Lots of calls on the police scanner for things on the mainland. Trees down, wires down, traffic lights hanging.
Rumors of a tornado in Surd City but I can not confirm that.
Police scanner concerning things here on the island is pretty quiet. There are not to many here to report things.
According to AC Electric they may shut power down it flooding is to bad.
This morning at 7 am the air temp is 75 with a NE wind at 7. It is a muggy, gray day.
The ocean is more swelly at this time than rough.
