FISHING REPORT
We would like wish everybody a safe and Happy Holiday.
With the heat please remember to drink plenty of water.
We are open today from 5:30am to 7:00pm.
Lite west wind this morning with a threat of showers this am. The air and the ocean are both 77.
Tues July 3rd
Flies made it tuff to stay in the bay today but one that did was Peter Rabbit. I think George had to redeem himself from all the shorts of yesterday with taking home 3 keepers of 20 inches. He was fishing a little north of where he was yesterday. Another group fished the inlet and over the past 2 days had 30 fish with 6 being keepers. Chartreuse gulp being a common factor of a lot of the fluke from the boats.
Talking with Capt. Bob of the "Fish Trap"he told me he had some nice sea bass today on Little Egg Reef for his charter.
King fish with some of them of good size at early light and the last few mornings from the beach and a couple of hours before high in the afternoon there are some nice fluke being caught on white gulp.
It looks like a great day ahead. The weather forecast if favorable for any kind of boating today and it looks like a great day for the beach.
This morning it is 74 with a WNW wind at 4. The ocean is also 74 and how about that moon?
Great tide for fluke this morning in the bay with an early high tide. Try fishing 110 down thru the inlet or if you are going outside Little Egg or Garden State South for fluke. If you are looking for some inshore tuna south of the Resor or Lemkes are some place that have had some blue fins.
Mixed bag for the beach. Not a lot of one thing but a little bit of a variety including those cow nose rays. Looks like shark time with these warm water temps and the full moon.
Mon July 2nd
The good news is that the grass has cleaned up between 110 and 113. More good news is there are a lot of fluke there. This morning Peter Rabbit had 5 shorts on the last of the incoming. Fishing the same area John caught 22. The bad news is --- they were all throw backs. There are also blowfish in that area. If you want to catch them anchor up and chum and you will put a nice catch together.
Getting a report from the two of them pretty well covered that area for this morning. Both of them being very experienced fluke fisherman gives me a good idea of whats going on in that area.
Another angler fishing that same area this morning using gulp shrimp and gulp bloodworms had short fluke and some weakfish to 14 inches and said what a great time he had this morning.
Between the research buoys and Little Egg Reef is where John caught this 3-4 fluke on a squid/fresh spearing combo. He said they has a flurry of 6 fish but only this keeper today.

It looks like my neighborhood of Beach Haven Park dodged a bullet last night with the storms. We had some loud thunder and a few big rain drops and thankfully that was it. Now it is time to go to work and see how we faired in Beach Haven. Sounds like Ship Bottom and north got hit pretty hard. This has been unbelievable week with these storms with Atlantic County still in bad shape and some people there with still no electric.
Another warm overnight with temps in the upper 70s. There is very little wind from the west and the ocean is 72.
The warm ocean temp makes me think brown sharks, king fish and fluke in which all are there for the surf caster.
85-90 feet of water is the best right now for your sea bass fishing and fluke. There are some nice catches being made from the deeper waters. Jim Green reports having his best day ever.
Early bird catches the tuna fish is the word from the Wilmington where some say by 8:30 the bite was over.
If you are looking for those inshore tuna look for signs that they are there. Sand eels presence is a good indicator along with a smell of watermelon.
