Jim's Bait and tackle, Cape May fishing report 8-6
Hey Guys, The fluke fishing was pretty good at the Old Grounds this week when weather permitted. The numbers of keeper fish are getting better as the summer goes on. Del. reef site #11 also geld up pretty good this week while fishing dropped off a bit at the CM reef. Some dolphin are also coming up on the boats at all the reefs and will take cut bait and live minnows readily.
More Croakers are showing up in the Del. Bay and in the Hotel Slough right off the beach in Cape May. there are some Fluke mixed in but most are small.
Inshore trolling and chunking is still pretty good along the 20 fathom line. Small Yellowfin are being caught on the lumps just inside the Elephant trunk south to Massey's canyon. These fish can be trolled up but the best bite is chunking and jigging. The OC Maryland boats had a good troll bite again this week at the Hot Dog on Tuna.
Offshore The Baltimore and Wilmington canyons both were good for White Marlin and some nice Dolphin with a few Yellowfin mixed in.
The surf is showing a little more action in Cape May. Small Bules Are showing up along with some Spot and Kingfish at the point and in the cove. Higbees Beach jetty still has some Croakers on it and some kings are showing up as well.
Thanks, Matt
