Jim's Bait and tackle, Cape May fishing report 10-2
Hey guys, this has been a tough week and most of our inshore guys are fishing for Blackfish. The Cold Spring inlet jetty is loaded with fish. Anglers are keeping fish in the livewell and culling for a bigger fish because of the 1 fish limit. There are some bass on the inlet jetty as well and while most are short some decent fish have been caught on live bait as well as on plugs.there are good numbers of Snapper Blues on the rocks as well. The last couple of days has conditions in the Del. Bay off so we haven't had any reports on the Kingfish in the Punk Grounds but before the breeze there were still good numbers of fish being caught.
The surf action is about the same with Snapper Blues most prevalent. The Kingfish are biting well in Hereford inlet and some White Perch have shown up as well along with the small Blues. A few more keeper sized Bass are starting to come in from the beaches but the bite is spotty and inconsistent.
The overnight Tuna fishing has been very good this past week when conditions permit. The Spencer and Lindenkohl canyons were the closest out of Cape May but well worth the ride. Double digit catches of Yellowfins and good numbers of Dolphin were pretty standard fare with a few Swords mixed in as well.
Thanks, Matt
