    Jet ski crabbing!

    Yesterday's action
Left at first light from my neighbor's pier on his 2 jet ski's. Strapped 12 topless traps on the back of each!
Rough as heck out, hit the cut between the Bush and the Gunpowder. Basically right next to Poole's.
Laid out 24 traps, fish heads and chicken necks, baits of choice.
We ended up with about 6 dozen, they definitely preferred the fish heads!
Crabs are moving up the bay a little early this year!
Don't have any water temp's, but I am pretty sure the water is somewhere around 6-8 feet deep through there.
The jet ski's were the ticket, burned almost no fuel (less than a gallon) and real easy to get around on. Got there really quick too

Couple pic's of my half of the catch as you can see all crabs in the 5 1/2- 6 1/2" range. Nothing big, but full!
    I'm happy

    Sunset Sat, it was awesome

    Thumbs up Fried Crab?

Ever try them fried? Friend on the outer banks showed me how to clean them by cutting in half and removing the inards and gills. Drop them in a pot of oil and fry them like you would fish. Its diffrent, but so good! Add a little old Bay afterwards if you like. Try it!

    Nice Catch!!

Where the hell did you put the crabs when you caught them. Were you pulling a floating basket?

We strapped a crab basket and inner tube to the front of one of the ski's.
Basket fits perfectly inside the tube. Pull it around by a rope when we were checking the traps!

Ace, the guy across the street from me asked me that a couple weeks ago. I was like
I thought he was confusing them with soft crabs!

Ace, I was just down NC this past week and a local guy was telling me about the same thing. Frying up some bacon and using the grease from that and adding water and some other stuff and putting the crab in it. I think he called it crab stew. Does this sound right?
