Jersey Tackle Striped Bass Report
Its just past 6am and we already had fish caught! The winds have died down nicely and the water has laid down as well. Its a cold morning but temps are going to rise.
The stripers were all caught on the beach using clams in the Brick / Ortley Beach areas. A nice start after a nasty weekend. We did have a weigh in over the weekend, Johnny Napolitano was at his shore house and he took the boat for a ride in the bay. He stopped an d jigged in the deepwater near the canal and found 2 keepers going 12lbs and 14lbs on a bunker jig and the other on an AVA27 with a tail.

Bunker Jig. resemble bunker. great when bunker are around because of the size of them.

The bite on the beach is pretty good today. Alot of fish being caught. Nothing really big, but alot of keepers @ 29 - 30" are being caught on clams. The lures are a lil slower than using bait!
The boaters made their way out today and found fish near the Elberon Rocks. There were a few pods of bunker out there most of them had blues o nthem, whle one or two had some nice bass. Bass were anything from 26" up 38" and they were snagging bunker for the bigger fish. Jigs were also working pretty good as well.

We had some people out on the boats this afternoon scoring fish up to 48" on jigs. Big Krocs, Bunker Jigs and even small bunker spoons such as the smallest MAJA Bunker spoons. Yes, jigging the small bunker spoons will work great when you have big bass in the area.
Most of the weigh ins today came from the boaters up in the Deal, Asbury park areas. Not much was heard from the beaches today. There were some smaller bass caught on the beaches , but the big boys are further out!!
