Jersey Tackle Fishing Report Striped Bass
The striped bass run is under way and its about 3 weeks early by our books from the last 5 years! The biggest surprise is the size of these fish! They are ranging from 20-40lbs already and just recently the blues have showed up with them! The Seaside Heights area had a nice blitz yesterday and another one this afternoon.
Kyle Jenson stopped in today with a nice 32lb bass caught using a top water plug. Fresh and salted clams are both working very well from the surf too!
The boat fishermen are finding bass from Banegat to Sandy Hook and the rocks are very productive with trolling bunker spoons. Heavy Krocs are working best for the guys jigging.
Its a great start to 2010 and its only going to get better!

Winds are a little stronger today than yesterday and not as many boats out there, but the fish are still hanging off Long Branch right up through Sandy Hook!
A few surf fishermen are out and we had a couple of weigh ins today at the shop. Fish up to 19lbs brought in today on clams.
Reports of bluefish further south around Barnegat inlet this morning. Not many bass mixed in from our reports, but plenty of blues. Temps are still around 53deg.
Will keep you updated as it happens!!
