OCEAN -
Plenty of good fluke reports last week and they continue as we type this! The usual spots, such as The Red Church, Long Branch, Sea Girt Reef and all of the local hot spots are producing good fishing reports. Seems that the shallower water is offering a ton of action, with alot of smaller fish, while the deeer water, 70' - 90' seems to have sme much bigger fish being caught. SPearing, killies, squid, smelts and all of the usual baits are all working well. Salmon Belly is also working very well for both small and large fish! OMT Bucktail Jigs are by far our most popular seller as of late. These OMT Jigs are available in sizes up to 32ozs, while sporting a smaller 4/0 or 5/0 hook, rather than the extra large hooks on other brands. Having this smaller hook eliminates the need for a 2nd hook, because the hook is the right size!

Sea Bass reports are good as well, with the boats fishing for them. We have a ton of bunker hanging in our area with some bass and alot of bluefish on them. The bunker can be found along the beaches, or as far out as 10 miles as of late. Thresher sharks are also hanging with the bunker pods as well. Brown sharks have invaded the local beaches and the bay. Anyone looking for some fun, can get a slick going and find themselves some shark action.

The inshore tuna bite is pretty good right now too. We have plenty of bluefin out there, as close as 10 miles and as far as 80 miles off our coast. The bft are responding to trolling now with a few fish on the jig recently! Jigging seems to find the bigger fish, as they are more aggresive and will take a jig worked through the water column faster than the smaller fish. When looking for tuna, troll spreader bars, daisy chains, ballyhoo, cedar plugs and feathers. Speed will also matter, as they seem to be more responsive when trolled at 6.5 -7 knots recently. Look for the birds, dolphin, turtles and other signs of life if your looking to jig!

BAY & RIVER
Plenty of action to keep the family happy in the bay & rivers right now! Crabbing is excellent, with some very big crabs being packed into the bushel baskets. Small snappers are already biting and we have bluefish up to 3 lbs also swimming throughout the bay. Please remember, when crabbing or fishing, be sure to take your trash home with you! Its only going to cause problems for some areas if everybody keeps leaving trash behind,

Some decent fluke have been caught in the bay and river as well. Use killies, spearing in the bay, as they are working best right now ! Recent conditions of having zero wind for drifting has caused some fishermen to have worse results than others. Get the boat moving and power drift if need be, it will pay off!
