Striped Bass-
Ok, the bass are slowly starting to show up now, so I will keep the fishing reports up to date since alot of you reminded me how bad I have been with the reports. This is not the so called " Fall Run", but we have bass being caught on a daily basis from the beaches and the boats. The weather has outright sucked for the last week and a half now. The boat reprts are pretty good when we can get outside and fish. Alot of people are jigging bass up on Deadly Dicks, Krocodiles and the newcomer to the scene is Skip's Custom Peanut Spoons. Allof these jigs have a great fluttering action on the way down. That is the key to success when jigging!!! The reports have come from both North & South of the Manasquan Inlet recently. Raritan Bay has som enice fish averaging 20lbs being caught at night. All in all, they have started to make their appearance. Keep in mind, the "Fall Run" traditionaly does not get into full swing until the 3rd week of October and will last right through Thanksgiiving 95% of the time! Dont hang up those rods just yet.

The surf reports are pretty good with alot fo fish 8 - 18lbs being weighed in dail. Clams, bunker, mullet al working as baits while the thinner profile lures are finding alot of fish for the plug fishermen. The beaches are blanketed with nice fluke right now as we are being teased with nice 5lb - 9lb fish hitting the mullet and some of the lures being thrown. Bucktails have accounted for a few fish as well, tipped with a thin squid strip. I like to suggest fishing a teaser in front of any lure your going to work in the surf or from a boat. That little teaser will catch just as many fish as your main lure and in some cases, outfish your main lure! Teasers should not be left out of any good fishermens bag!!

Offshore-
The weather has blown, litteraly! But, on the days that we can get out, the fish have cooperated. Pleny of Mahi at the Mudhole and closer. The BFT bite is on today, off the next! But, the fish are getting bigger now!! We had alot of fish over 100lbs up to 140lbs being caught in the Glory Hole area and North of it. There is a nice clean, blue patch of water that was identified on Saturday by several fishermen. There were reports of Mahi in it, what was described as Mako's, and even claims of BFT being mixed in by about a dozen boats. If we have that many people making the claims, that are not all fishing together, I have found it to be good intel in the past! The blue water is laying only 7 miles off MI. This is that crazy time of year where we see alot of offshore species being caught inside the 20 fathom line. In English, you will find them from 5 - 15 miles out. Keep your eyes out when your heading off, you may be surprised at what most guys are driving over out there!!
