Jersey Tackle Fishing Report
Alot of fluke stacked up on the mussel beds off Deal in about 30' of water. Its about a 10 -1 short to keeper ratio, but its fish! The deeper waters are slower, but have quality fish on them. Rich Spencer of Bloomfield had fluke up to 11lbs on Blue Frog Bucktails tipped with peruvian spearing. The Barnegat Bay ( northern areas) is loaded with fluke and small bluefish. The crabbing in the bay is also really good right now too.
The Blue Fin Tuna are being caught both inshore and offshore. The inshore lumps that are holding bait have been hot for soem local boaters. The fish are hitting bally hoo on the troll along with JCC Mahi Jets. The jigging has been a better option for the bluefin recently. Sandeel Jigs, Krocodiles and even Butterfly Jigs have all been working very well! The water temps are around 73 degrees and the water is clean just 8 miles out of Manasquan Inlet.
The sharking reports are not what we would expect this time of year! The makos seem to be hanging up north of the Mudhole. Water temps are just too warm I think. The Mako Hotel, HA Bouy are a couple of areas that will give up makos for you. We have alot of bluefish from just 8 miles out all of the way out past the Chicken Canyon!
We will keep you updated as it changes!
