INSHORE:
Plenty of tog action on the inshore patches, while the seabass are out deep. The local snags are holding tog, with a 50-50 ratio of keepers to shorts. Crabs and clams have been producing with some days seeing clams working better than crabs, believe it or not! Once in a while we are seeing some keeper cod being caught in close as well on clams or jigs. These cod have been caught as close as the wall at the Manasquan Inlet! This is a very nice surprise!



Striped Bass are all along the local shoreline and out as far as 6 miles because that's where the bunker have been for the most part. Inside of the 3 mile legal limit we are seeing more sandeels than bunker to date. If looking for bass, use thin jigs rather than wider jigs and lures made to look like bunker.

The Fall Bluefin Tuna Migration is under way, with these fish coming in as close as just 2 miles from shore on occasion. The usual area to target is anywhere from 5 miles and beyond. A few nice fish have been caught as close as the Axel Carlson Reef. Top water plugs will work best with this run n' gun fishery in the Fall. Yes, jigs will work too, but it's best to find them and throw the top water tackle at them!

OFFSHORE:
Deep water seabass has been pretty good so far. Many boats are running 12-18hr trips and returning with plenty of fish 5-lbs plus! The cod are responding as well anywhere from 10 miles on out. Plenty of fish on the local wrecks that we usually associate with shark or tuna fishing. The cod have been showing up daily with good reports just about every trip. Both bait and jigs are working on both cod and seabass recently. It's all a matter of choice!

Bluefin are out there too in the usual offshore areas from 15 miles on out. Plenty of porpoise life and clean water out there right now if you plan on heading out. Use the same tactics offshore with top water tackle if you have a choice!
