The bass around the Mantoloking Bridge have been a pleasant surprise! Usually we see alot of schoolies, but recently we have had weigh ins up to 18lbs from the Bridge area! Poppers, Mambo Minnows and Bucktails have been used to get the fish to bite!
The flounder fishermen are doing well in this same area and also up through the Canal and into the Mansquan River as well. Sandworms, bloodworms and clams have worked well for the flatties! Chumming Heavy is the key to getting the fish to cooperate! Flounder up to 3lbs being brought into the shop over the last 2 weeks.
The beaches have been quiet until this weekend, with alot fishermen out there since we got fresh clams in stock and the warmer weather. Mostly reports of smaller bass but we did have a weigh in today from the Brick Beach 1 areaa!! A small fish, only 8lbs, but its the first bass from the beach for the year!
Things will only get better now!! If your on the beach and your getting light taps/hits, switch to smaller hooks and smaller bits of clam! The ling are still in the area and you can get yourself soem dinner by holding the rod and setting the hook.
Goos Luck, we will keep you informed!
