the clifford's and steve
capt's kevin gerrity and dave bender took dave clifford of milltown,nj out for our first overnighter in september on september 23rd. slow fishing and poor weather kept us at the dock for three weeks, but we were jonesing to get back out to the edge. we trolled thursday afternoon and our first bite was a beautiful 60lb yellowfin that was lost at the boat, not a good way to start a trip. we then trolled two gaffer mahi that did make the cooler. we set up on the chunk and had a nice bite that steve fought for a very long time, after a few pass off's the largest longfin to date hit the deck. we estimate the fish to be over 60lbs, that is for sure a slob longfin. later on we had another nice tuna to the back of the boat but once again we couldn't seal the deal. throughout the night we fought several mystery fish, two of which appeared to be nice a swordfish only to be lost. all in all the guys fought fish for a good portion of the night and were tired and due to the impending rough seas they opted to head in. dave said next year he's bring some more troops to assist in the battle.
