INSANE TUNA ACTION 50 MILES OUT!
The tuna action was insane over the last few days and it was 45 miles before the Hudson!! Our charters were treated to both bluefin and yellowfin this weekend on every trip. There has been a very nice temperature break of 72 - 77 degrees in the area between the Glory Hole and the Chicken Canyon.
We had bluefin on the cooler side and nice yellowfin up to 85lbs on the warmer side and all of this 40 miles before our planned destination! It just does not get much better than that.
The bluefin were all over the bright green colors and the zuchini colored Mahi Jets and Spreader Bars. They also reponded to rigged ballyhoo as well, but not as much as the lures being trolled.
The yellowfin were on zuchini, green and rainbow colored Mahi Jets, Spreader bars and cedar plugs too! Some nice bulls were caught too a little further west on the west side of the Glory Hole on the way in from the tuna on all3 days as well.
The local fluke action is staying steady with soem bigger fish being caught in deeper waters now! The area 4 - 5 miles off Long Branch is giving up good fluke up to 8lbs. The local bay area and river s are also seeing soem bigger fish finally!
Get those Mahi Jets, cedar plugs, spreadder bars and load up on ballyhoo!! We dont know how long these fish will stay in this close!
Good Luck!!
