Fishing Report for September 3rd
September 3rd, 2011 by Indian River Marina

The good news is that Hurricane Irene is long gone, the seas have settled back down and the boats are getting back out on the fishing grounds. Early reports are that it seems the storm did not keep the fish from biting. on the Offshore grounds Tuna are again filing the coolers of boats heading to the Canyons in addition to Wahoo and Dolphin (Mahi). There are also reports of White Marlin being hooked and released in the same areas.

Further inshore and in the Inlet and Back Bays the fishing seemed to pick up right where it left off. Reports of Black Sea Bass, Flounder and Ling are coming from the “B” Buoy, Old Grounds and Reef Sites 10 & 11. In the Inlet there are Flounder being caught along with occasional Rockfish and will improve as the water clarity is getting better each day. The only thing which is an unknown are where the Croaker ended up after the storm in the Inlet/Back Bays area, they are in the mouth of the Delaware Bay up by the rock wall and south of the Inlet, so they should be off the beach here also. A rare catch of a big Sheephead was reported in Massey’s Ditch, which is unusual for one that big in the Back Bays here, Thanks Irene.

Here are some photo’s of just before the storm and some from just after.
