Indian River Marina fishing report 7-27
Fishing Report for July 26
July 26th, 2011 by Indian River Marina
The fishing continues to be, well, let’s just say “hot” does not do it justice. Yesterday and today, some of our Charter Boats came back early with outriggers full of flags flying and limits of Tuna. Inshore, Inlet and Back Bays are also having good catches.
I think for this report, the pictures will tell it all, so here they are.

Vickie Taylor of Elkton, MD and Paul Cronshaw of Wilmington, DE had a nice trip on the water when they went out fishing on the 30-fathom line at the Poorman’s and caught two nice Yellowfin tuna and two Mahi.

Mike Jones Jr. of Broomall, PA caught two keeper flounder in Indian River Inlet weighing 2.2 and 2.3 lbs. on live minnows.

Wayne and Adam Shiveley of Chantily, VA used live spot to catch this 15.1-lb. Rockfish in the Indian River Inlet.

Andrew Marcus, Samuel and Matt King, John Lance and Elmer King of Lancaster, PA caught these two nice Yellowfin tuna while fishing on the Charter boat “Blue Water Obsession” in 500 fathoms between the Hot Dog and Baltimore Canyon using Zukers and ballyho.

Bob Strickler, Nicole Flowers, Mike Bergeron, Beth and Sean Barba of York, PA caught these nice 11.7- and 9.6-lb. Rockfish using live spot in the Indian River Inlet.

Mate Rob Dorman, John Kucyk, Jeff McMahon, Marcus Chacona and Capt. Vernon Lee of the “American Ambition” fished the Baltimore Canyon and brought back the bigest Wahoo to date for Indian River Marina, weighing 41 lbs. They also brought back four Yellowfin tuna.

Kyle Swarter with his father Capt. Scott on the “Relentless” caught some Flounder using live Spot and Gulp. They tipped the scales at 5.9 and 5.6 lbs.

Pete Campbell of Smyrna, DE caught this 5.9-lb. flounder using live Spot in the Indian River Inlet.

Mike Rhodes, Chad Johnson, Mike Gordecki and Gary Dengler of Reading, PA, along with Brian Werner and Ethan Rhodes of Dewey Beach, DE and Kevin Easlinger of Dover, DE fished with Vernon Lee on the “American Ambition” and hooked up with some nice Yellowfin tuna south of the Poor Man’s Canyon.

Tom Gessler, Sr., Chip Roman, Will Ernest, Fran Gessler and Tom Gessler, Jr., were fishing at the Poor Man’s Canyon and hooked up with a 108-lb. Bluefin tuna, 40-lb. Wahoo and four Yellowfin Tuna.

Sandi Panik and her husband Barry of Fredrick, MD landed this 49.8-lb. Swordfish while fishing the Poor Man’s Canyon overnight.
