Hunting Goldens

Like to know what are some of the things you guys look for when hunting golden tiles. Depth, bottom, marks, bait, etc.

Thanks

We seem to find them when drifting in to deeper water when catching grays.
In the baltimore when we drop in 70 or so fathoms by the time we get out to the 80-100 markthe 5 grays a drop will dwindle off a golden or two.

When looking for tile in the canyons we target areas where the steep drop offs end and flatten out, this seems to be a area where the mud builds up.

We fish for them alot and when looking for them watch your bottom machine for a wide band marking the bottom this usually means soft bottom and thats where the goldens live also watch where the have lobster gear they are good spots to check out just be careful not to get to close they eat up alot of spectra.

Good stuff, thanks. Do the goldens show up on the FF or are they usually in their burrows and not show up? I can mark the grays (we call them bluelines here in VA). I've scanned the areas around the lobster pots in the Norfolk Canyon but can't seem to mark much.

Anybody got a typical screen shot of golden marks.

We have marked them but not often it is mostly drop and drop and drop until we hit a spot that is holding then drop around it to see how big the patch of fish is. You will see a trend as to were they are and carry it down the edge. They seem to be tight to 600 feet early in the season and then there seem to be more shallower later. We get them mixed with the blueline in aug. 450 ft.
