Hi Mar striper results
The annual Hi-Mar Spring Fishing Tournament to benefit Jason’s Dreams for Kids was held Saturday and Sunday this year so tournament participants and the Hi-Mar members and their families could enjoy a big Sunday picnic at 2:00 P.M. with food donated from the restaurants and merchants from Highlands and surrounding towns. Hi-Mar's Don Kamienski said the picnic and pig roast was a huge success and even had a D.J.
The true winner of the Tournament was Jason’s Dreams for Kids as a large check was donated to them from the proceeds of the tournament along with donations and the sale of tee shirts with numerous sponsors.
The predicted thunder storms never materialized, but the wind was a factor at times.
Other fish weighed-in were filleted and donated to the Monmouth / Ocean Food Bank in Neptune to feed the hungry.
Finishing behind Santos were:
2nd. Prime Coat, Buddy Hughes, 80.15 lbs.
3rd. Eastwick, Raul Delaprida, 71.40 lbs.
4th. Hapi Daze, Rick Nunn, 70.90 lbs.
5th. Runoff, Rocco Casso, 70.15 lbs.
Lady Angler: Kathie Hughes, Prime Coat
Junior Angler: Tristan Owens, Fishblind

HI MAR ANGLERS RELEASE AT LEAST 5 FISH
i would just like to say that the tournment was a blast and thanks to Barry H. for doing all the work he did as well as letting me fish aboard his boat. On another note i was very excited to hear about the number of BIG fish that were caught, brought to the scales live, and RELEASED!!!!! THIS IS REALLY GREAT AND I CONGRAT ALL THAT FELT THESE BIG FISH DESERVE TO LIVE ANOTHER DAY! I have heard from those there on day 2 that one fish in the 50's took almost TWO hours to revive but was kicking to swim away by the time the anglers that caught her were done. This is the way to keep this fishery strong and i hope with fiberglass mounts available and large fish not making good tabel fair more anglers do the responsible thing and LET THESE BIG FISH LIVE ANOTHER DAY!
