Harbor Tackle’s Fishing Report, June 29, 2006
For the fishermen that have given up looking for big fish at Assateague, listen up. Jim Hiltz of New Providence, Pa. caught his first red drum on Wednesday. The drum measured 32 inches and was taken on a big fresh bunker head. Pictures to follow later.

Harbor Tackle’s Fishing Report, July 5, 2006
Finally the croakers have come in. Sunday and Monday customers were scrambling around to find bloodworms. On Saturday, Eddie Ellerman of Berlin hooked up with a 4.190 lb flounder in the Thorofare using a live minnow. I had several fishermen find some blues at the Jackspot. Shawn Warren, on his first offshore fishing trip, caught an 8.825 lb 32 inch bluefish using a Houchie Lure. His dad, Jay Warren, picked up an 11.365 34 ˝ inch bluefish. Chris Torrones caught a 9.73 lb 33 inch bluefish and Denise Deal caught a 9.81 lb 33 inch bluefish. The girls were using Houchies Lures. They were on the boat Last One captained by Dave Williams. The surf is producing a variety of fish. Being caught are spot, blues, flounder, trout, croaker, kingfish, perch. Flounder are being caught in the usual places like the Thorofare, Rt. 50 Bridge, behind the airport. Most of the flounder are shorties. Croakers have just shown up and hopefully there will a little more action. At the jetty and the Rt. 50 Bridge some short stripers, tog have started to slow, bluefish, trout. Harbor Tackle has fresh bunker, live eels, live minnows, live sand fleas, and live peelers. Hours of operation:

Harbor Tackle’s Fishing Report, August 21, 2006
Flounder fishing is still good. Good places to look for flounder and croakers are: behind Harbour Island at 15th Street, the Route 50 Bridge, 2nd & 4th Streets, the Coast Guard Station, in front of Bahia Marina, just outside of the Commercial Harbor, and in front of the airport. Surf fishing has not changed. Still being caught is kingfish, croakers, spot, small bluefish and for the adventurous, sharks. The inshore wrecks are producing some nice flounder and sea bass. Short stripers are coming from the Inlet and the Rt. 50 Bridge. Some trout are showing up there also.
Harbor Tackle has fresh bunker, fresh bait shrimp, live eels, live minnows, live sand fleas, and live peelers when I can get them.

Harbor Tackle’s Fishing Report, September 4, 2006
Wow, what a storm, not sure what it has done to the fishing. Flounder and croaker fishing in the bay were good up till Friday. I have not had any good reports of fish being caught since, except two flounder caught at Stinky Beach today. When the water clears up I would suggest looking in same good places as before the storm. They were as follows: behind Harbour Island at 15th Street, the Route 50 Bridge, 2nd & 4th Streets, the Coast Guard Station, in front of Bahia Marina, just outside of the Commercial Harbor, and in front of the airport. There have been some reported fish caught on the surf since the storm on Friday. Still being caught are kingfish, croakers, spot, small bluefish, sharks, and a few stripers. Thursday, before the storm, a 40 something inch red drum was caught at Assateague. The inshore wrecks were producing some nice flounder and sea bass. Short stripers, tog, blues, and trout are coming from the Inlet and the Rt. 50 Bridge. I was told by a bridge fisherman that anyone who was brave enough to fish at the Rt. 50 Bridge on Friday caught their limit on stripers.
Harbor Tackle has fresh bunker, fresh finger mullet, fresh bait shrimp, live eels, live minnows, live sand fleas, and live peelers when I can get them.

Harbor Tackle’s Fishing Report, September 15, 2006
Tom Wader weighted one of the biggest flounder I have ever seen on Saturday, September 9, 2006. It was 27 ˝ inches and 8.75 pounds. The fish was caught on frozen shiners at the Rt. 50 Bridge. Donna Guthridge took a 23 inch trout from the inlet using lures last weekend. Also, some puppies drum and blues at the Inlet. Tog has started to bite, mostly small ones though. If you have not started to surf fish for the big red drum, I suggest you get ready now! Last weekend was the first influx of red drum with several caught. Some sizes were 2 - 47 inches, 46 ˝ inch, 2 - 46 inches, 2 - 44 inches, 43 inches, 41 inches, and 38 inches. This week several more reds were hooked up. The ultimate was caught last Saturday at Assateague. A 48 inch cobia was taken off the Assateague Surf by Toby Jones using bunker. Still being caught are kingfish, croakers, spot, bluefish, sharks, and a few stripers. The inshore wrecks were producing some nice flounder and sea bass.
Harbor Tackle has fresh bunker, fresh finger mullet, fresh spot, fresh bait shrimp, live eels, live sand fleas, and live peelers.
