NY HAMPTON BAYS ASA 2007 ~ WHAT A GREAT START!!!!

What a great start we had today!

Morning started off with my normal cup of cereal, except switching it up a little bit to LUCKY CHARMS! No HUNT4FISH I didn't wear it or make a mess!

Roll out a little late this morning headed for the Petconic bay to be greeted by Orca & Rock it heading back in to head out the other way because it was too nasty!

Spun around and headed out the Shinnecock inlet and pitched it north.

1st drift notta.... 2nd drift Bass hooked up 18lbs, 3rd drift Bass 25lbs. I am liking this 3rd drift 30 lbr. Fish in the box!!! Then a freight train of blues rush thru.

Had plenty of confirmation that we were in the bite called Guppie Ann & BunkerDown in Behind us.

It was a WEEEEE BIT SPORTY this morning!!! Running up the beach no problem, running around the point no problem. Set close to a normal spot, not so good CHUCK SPEAKING yells HOLD ON!!! He thought for sure that I was toast! You ever seen a face look like this little smiley here comes a 10 footer or so YUP this ought to be fun. The wave broke on the top of the boat instead of hitting me UMMMMM CHUCK SPEAKING you may want to turn on the bilge pump. Chuck suggests just to open the transom door and let the foot of water out. That sounded like a good I idea along with moving in to deeper water!

I have to say this has been the best tournament that we have had up here, and has to be the most enjoyable one for me for some reason. Maybe there is just two of us less complicated, who knows!

    Here is what I know

    14 Boats fishing it

Rick & Greg Nunn -Happidaze Fountain is in 1st with a 38lbr
Ben Ewing - Guppy Anne -Contender is in 2nd with a 37lbr
Chuck Many - Tyman -True World - is in 3rd with a 35.4lbr

    Tomorrow is another day.

Its anyone's game still 1st to 10th place is only separated by 8.5 lbs. I love when its this close, I jumps around so bad it doesn't take much to switch it up, and it keeps you on your toes till scales close!

    Here is a few pictures

The first pictures with the 2 boats on the inside of us was just out of Shinnecock Inlet and we made it north it got bigger and bigger every 10 miles or so. In the last few water shots that was nothing. I am 5'4 and they were over my head, the one that broke on the boat easy 10 or better!

Tomorrow is another day and can't wait!

    Ok day 2 SUCKED!!

With my back continuing to get worse to the point of where I could barely even hold the rod, we managed to pick blue after blue after blue

Talked to Bunkerdown he pulled a 39lbr at 7:03 to wrap his day up from the start, Happidaze and Undisptued also were able to pick good fish out of the same place we were at.

The blues were just not leaving me alone. I tried everything and NO GOOD! Saturday I left the bail open on 1 of the baitrunners and forgot to close it and spooled myself and went to the tackle shop and got it respooled. They respooled it with pink something and I never use pink anything.

I really honestly thought pink attracted the bluefish because I never had this problem before, as soon as I set the line out it ran forward with 12 oz's of weight. I switched rods same problem it just sucked BLUEFISH SUCK. Poor Chuck Speaking had to deal with me all day in pain and no bass. I have never felt pain like this before it starts in my hand goes up my arm in to my shoulder up my neck and down my back. 24 Advil and a couple pain pills in less then 24 hours was not fully helping and I was just miserable throwing temper tantrums all day long.

But all in all it was good!

Congrats to Happidaze it wasn't no 50 but it was sure enough to win, and well deserved!!

Bunker down, Tymann congrats on your placement

See you at the next one!

Ain't that the truth ,they were almost the size of the bass from Saturday and on the bright side I cleaned out my tackle box, of hooks that is, I have nothing bigger than 6/0 left and there is a couple of 1/2 blind bluefish running around. Hooks thru the eyes has to hurt

Yeah I know, this time I am worried about what they might say to me on what is wrong, I really do not think its good! Its been on and off for a while now.

I went to the Chiropracter on Friday morning to get the heat and the shockers put on the knot that was the length on my shoulder blade and broke it up but hurt worse than ever afterwards. The right side of my neck was swollen Sat. night and the pain extended in around my eye. Probably a pinched nerve somewhere. I definatley should not of been fishing at all this past week and 4 days out of 7 I was

It couldn't help that I broke my right hand twice and my right collar bone on that side either.

    Hey Mary,

Good seeing you again @ the tourney! Nice job on that fish. I saw you & Chuck out there, that Contender is a sweet boat. Saturday the waves were pretty big out there in the morning but they laid down nice in the afternoon.
We fished pretty hard but didnt have anything over 15lbs, not worth weighing... and too many blue fish I can't even count...ironically we pre-fished thursday & friday and had bass up to 30lbs...go figure! At least I'm being consistent...3 tourney's 0 weigh in's!!

    Congrats to all who placed!

Hope to see everyone again in Cape May (If I can get the boat Trailored down there)

    don
