Gusto IV fished the Wally Oakland Memorial Shark Tournament on June 15th. We started out 18 miles south of Shinnecock and had blue sharks come to the boat before we put lines in. We released 11 in the first two hours. After 4 hours of sight fishing we decided to run deeper. We ran south of the Coimbra and after half hour started catching blue sharks. We fished with one line and had nonstop action till 4pm when we ran in. Had a great day and the seas and wind calmed down like forecasted.

Tournament results were, 45 boats entered and a 150 lb mako and a 190 thresher weighed in. Water temps where we fished were 62 in the morning and 66 in the afternoon.

We tried sharking again and ran 18 miles S/W out of Shinnecock. Water temps were 66 and after an hour we had blue sharks at the boat. We fished this area for 4 hours and released over 20 blue sharks. We decided to leave our slick for the second time this week and headed a bit inshore to a little warmer water. After 30 minutes the blue sharks showed up again. We released another dozen or so and headed in. Another great day on the water and plenty of action.

The makos and threshers should be moving in any day so give us a call and book now. We still have some prime dates available.
