Grumpy's Bait and Tackle fishing report, Seaside Park 10-9
Pretty day today!
Saturday, October, 9, 2010 at 2:54AM
No problems with the weather for today, now lets see how well the fish cooperate. Friday was mostly quiet with some bluefish and short bass reported after a couple of days of decent fishing. I did hear of a Black Drum that was released. Sandeels and rainfish are in the neighborhood so be sure to bring the plugging pole and use a teaser.
The weatherman is not going to try to ruin the day either - Sunny. Highs in the mid 70s. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph.
A customer, who shall remain nameless, has dropped off a bunch of earplugs on Mikes bench. I have to believe that they are so Mike doesn′t have to listen to himself, just like the rest of us!

To the customer who dropped off the ear plugs THANK YOU my life has all of a sudden become much more enjoyable. All I have to do is nod to Grump and he thinks I′m listening and I can′t hear a thing he says. I′m bringing some on vacation with me too.... Again thanks

Yup, We got Bass
Clams are getting the job done very nicely but we did get some on artificials at last. The late afternoon had some solid Bass activity in the pocket. Somehow, the water found a way to get dirty again yesterday after cleaning up nicely but those pesky fish still wanted to eat! Poppers and teasers were working. The after work night crew put a couple of bass on the scale so if you are stuck with that annoying day job all day, the Bass are still hungry after the sun goes down.
The weather idiots have failed in thier quest for a rain cloud - Sunny. Highs in the lower 70s. West winds 10 to 15 mph. Looks like a pretty good beach day!
Just in - The new Battle series spinning reels from Penn. They are a step up from the popular Sargus series but still pretty affordable.
We had a hard drive failure so reports and weigh-ins may be a little behind schedule for a few days.
Have you ever wondered if Mike gets tired of having himself around?

Golly, Gosh! There′s fish out there!
Now that the rainy weather is gone and we are seeing some fishermen on the beaches again, we have some Bass being weighed in. (Did ya notice that when nobody was fishing, there were no fish caught?) Clams were the Bass bait yesterday although I did hear of some shorts on artificials. Not much news on bluefish but I expect that to change quickly. The water has cleaned up quickly from the big blow and the temperatures are falling gradually into the mid 60′s. Yup, It is time to alter schedules to get more beach time in!
The weather idiots couldn′t find any rain so the decided to over sensationalize the wind today - Mostly sunny and breezy. Highs around 70. West winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.
I have been to the dealer showrooms for Shimano, Penn, Abu-Garcia, Berkley etc etc over the last week and as usual, found a bunch of new stuff that I didn′t know I needed! Mike is complaining already and he hasn′t even seen the bills. I will let you know as new stuff arrives because I requested immediate shipping.
No one really knows what makes Mike tick but we are all hoping it is some sort of bomb.
