    Grizzly Fishing Report 12/28/08

Happy Holidays to ALL!!!! Thanks to everyone that has joined us during the 2008 season we are looking forward to seeing you all in 2009. Weather permitting we will be fishing a couple more weeks then will restart mid march.

We have had our share of windy days the last two weeks. Don Yocum and friends were the first trip we got and we ventured offshore looking for some clean water and some tog. Well we found some cooperative fish but not as many nice fish as I had hoped for. Dave Dubroff joined us next for a day of striper fishing. Finding excellent marks on the screen we tried to hold out till they bit but I threw in the towel and headed to where a bite was occurring and managed some throw backs for the day. John Toomey and friends joined us next and the striper bite was excellent. Despite the rainy conditions we finished the day with only four keepers on the day but had one fine gal that had landed fifteen herself. Did I mention she kicked the guys butts. Congratulations! Mitch Morris and friends set out to catch some stripers as well. Well we once again found the fish but had a hard time getting them to cooperate. We did manage some throw back stripers along with five flounder.

Bernie Smelstoys and family left the decision to us and we brought the kids tog fishing with the hopes to get some action. The tog action was good but the keeper ratio was off. Bernie did land a nice 7 lb 4 oz fish and Dillan caught a 6 lb 14 oz tog as well. The guys from the bad boyz fishing club were along next for some tog fishing. We had some good action right away but just about every one went back except a few. Brian Taylor did land a 7 lb 4 oz fish but as the day progressed and the fog set in - the fish shut off.

Once again - Thanks for a great 2008 season!

I was on the trip saturday for the upper bay bad boyz, and yes it was a very slow day the tog had lock jaw, it seemed that the shrimp intised the tog to bite, but we ran out very quickly, the fish didn't want to really eat the green crabs and it was a hit or miss. I don't know if 10 days of wind and the cold water temps had them off or they just did not want to eat, we had 7 keepers for the trip. This was our third tog trip on the grizzly, and the last 2 trips were very good a limit of 70 fish and also a better then half limit for 7 people on the first trip. Will be back in march to try again.
