FLOUNDER SEASON KICK OFF (NEW JERSEY)

Saturday was the start for the Fluke season here in NJ. I don't think too many people fished on Saturday with the wind crankin like it was. Did any of you catch em on Sunday???? Lets hear if you did.

Tried for 2 hours on Sunday. It was slow fishing, 2 flounder and a few blues in the 2-3# size. Fished behind oc and the water temp was 49-51. Can't wait for a little warm up and the snot grass to disappear!!

LIL TUNNY were those Blues up on the flats behind OC? They have been back there for the last week off and on. Last Thursday a friend of mine had Blues up to 5 or 6 lbs mixed in with smaller fish.Your right about the water temp it needs to go up a bit. Thats cold!

    Craig,

I was out on saturday in OC. 1 21 inch fluke and a few blues. Mostly behind Pier 4 in Somers Point. I got out for a few hrs today and picked two thrrowbacks and a few blues.

Seemed like the blues were thickest right in the ICW around the middle of the island.

Fillet 1, have you been fishing only on the Somers Pt side?? You may want to try the OC side in the area behind 16th and 17th street. There are some sloughs back there that may hold fish. Try it!!

LIL Tunny, Sounds like the blue fish are moving around. A good spot this time of the year for them is on those flats on the Somers Pt side of the islands across from 16th street.

    Craig,

I was on the OC side yesterday. Couple blues. Saw a little kid with his dad pull in a nice one.

    HI:
Cap'n John on the SHINNECOCK STAR out of SHINNECOCK INLET hit 'em hard! Shinnecock Inlet is on the South shore of Long Island.
The fish and the water temps warmed up just enough.
22 DOORAMTTERS for less than 30 customers, ALL over 5 pounds. I think they went up as high as 9+ pounds on a few of 'em.
Check out his website for details for dates. RESERVATIONS A MUST.
Check out my website for some of the rigs they were using.
Those CHROME BALLS as a attractor AND a hook rig really works.
Look at mine. I give instructions on how to build your own. Cool.
Remember,,,fish ssslllooowww in cold waters. Keep those Chrome Balls moving up and down easy. Be prepared for an easy hit...aka...extra weight. keep in touch with that Chrome Ball at all times. Live killie and either squid heads( I shouldn't have told you that....Pinn hookers secret). ALWAYS...ALWAYS...ALWAYS put your fillet on the hook SKIN SIDE UP!.

Haven't heard of much activity. Saturday was a cancel for me and Sunday we elected to anchor up out of the wind and clam for bass. All we got was a mess of blues. Did see a few boats catch fluke but they were mostly small. Water was only 54 close to the bottom of the tide. Sounds like a broken record, All we need is a few warm days.
