Flounder Pounders with Stinger Hooks
This has come up alot in the last few days so I figured I would post how to rig them...
Start with the following materials 1-Teaser Tail, Snelled 5/0 Gamagatsu Circle hook, 30"-28" of 30# leader, Crimping tool, 2 crimps, 4 beads, 2" of 135# Surfstrand Camo cable, Holographic Spinner, Treble hook with feathers ( These are Gamagatsu #2), #4 Folded Clevis ![]() Next...Crimp your cable to the circle hook and treble hook stinger. Cut off one barb that is closest to the shank of the circle hook ![]() Now Slide your Teaser Tail over the leader and down to the hooks ![]() Add 3 beads, folded clevis and spinner and the last bead...tie on a barrel swivel and you are ready to go. You can add a sliding sinker rig or a fish finder rig. Add a strip of squid ( I like them long..6"-8"), squid/minnow sandwich...Hope this answers a few questions..Good Luck and Tight Lines Chris ![]()

Here's one that I tie up and use with a strip(usually squid). It got me tied for the first place $ this year at the June flounder pounder here in OCMD. That's a 7/0 circle. I have made some with 3/0-5/0. I like the circles on these rigs and use a sliding egg sinker a la "Lupton"drum rig ahead of it. What caught my attention was having a "store bought" flounder rig on the bench next to the circle hook. The wide gap kahle style hook was not much different then the circle. I drill out the glow beads so they fit over the end of the bucktail rivet so they slide and spin..
I have added spinner blades and varied all kinds of bucktails. I am going to try yours with a live spot. Last edited by captcl; 09-30-2007 at 05:08 PM. |

Thats a good looking rig..I like the idea of 2 teasers...Does the bead on the lower teaser slide or is it glued onto the collar?

All the beads are drilled out so they slide and rotate.

They will make nice additions to my tackle, I will make 2 sets, 1 for my master copy and one for my tackle . Would you tell me who makes those crimpers? Not where I see that, I use Jinkai.
