Fishing Report for November 30th
November 30th, 2010 by Indian River Marina

It may be late in the season, but both Inshore and Inlet fishing is still producing fish. From some reports the Striper (Rockfish) migration still hasn’t totally arrived here at Indian River Inlet yet, with a better bio mass of fish still a bit north of us.

There are still plenty of boats fishing the Inlet area with additional anglers fishing from the rip rap along the inlet. Anglers are reporting Stripers (Rockfish) and Tog (Tautog) being caught. Live eels, spot and a variety of artifical lures have been producing Striper (Rockfish) catches. While green crab has been a great bait for Tog (Tautog). Hook ‘em & Cook “em is open and has a good supply of baits available.

Captain John Nedelka of the “Karen Sue” reported he had a great trip on November 28th. The Joe Noga party from Long Island, NY had a great day of fishing with 28 Tog (Tautog) up to 6 lbs., 1 Sea Bass and a 24″ 5 lb Codfish coming over the rail.

Captain John also reported that the “Miss Ene III” took out a party of 7 on November 29th and had limits of Sea Bass.

The IRBA Third Annual Turkey Week Striper Tournament ended on November 27th with some really nice Stripers being brought to the scales. Below is the winners of the tournament and the fish weights.

Heaviest Fish caught by the “Other Woman” at 42.4 lbs., 2nd Heaviest Fish also caught by the “Other Woman” at 33.6 lbs., 3rd Heaviest fish was brought in by “17 Boston Whaler” tipping the scales at 33.1 lbs.

So as you see there is still fishing to be had here at Indian River Inlet and what a great way to beat the cabin fever and stock up on some good eating fish for the winter. Some of our Charter boats will still continue to run throughout the winter for Tog (Tautog) so give it a try, it could pay off in a dividend of some really tasty fillets.
