The torrid striped bass action in Beach Haven continued right through Thanksgiving weekend before it started to slow a bit. The captains of the Beach Haven Charter Fishing Association were in the middle of the action and were joined by boats from as far north as Long Island and Ocean City to the South.
Captain Fran Verdi of the “Dropoff” said that limit is the word that comes to mind for the last several striper trips. His Thanksgiving trip limited out but 9:30am with 8 keepers, and they released fish for another two hours before calling it a day. His black Friday's trip was another trip that had its limit of 10 keepers and we 15 more released. Because of the large number of boats that moved in to enjoy the fishing, Captain Fran spent time away from the fleet looking for smaller pods of fish and doing some trolling. He plans to keep fishing the stripers until the bite stops. For information on the 25' "Drop Off" contact Capt. Fran Verdi, (609) 868-8970, or Email: fpvmdv@comcast.net
The head boat “Miss Beach Haven” and Captain Frank Camarda had planned a half day trip for striped bass but headed back early since the boat limited out early. The pool winner tipped the scales at 23-pounds. The “Miss Beach Haven” will be splitting its trips between jigging for stripers and heading out to some productive wrecks for some strong blackfish action. For information on the 80' "Miss Beach Haven" contact Capt. Frank Camarda, phone: (609) 978-9951, email: MissBeachHaven@aol.com
(If you contact any captain for a charter, please mention that you read their report on the Fisherman's Headquarters Fishing Report. Thank you)

40 to 50-lb class Bluefin tuna reported at the Barnegat Ridge.
Received: Nov 29, 2011 10:58 AM Subject: Hi Flier Open Boat Stripers
The stripers hit hard again today on jigs and soft plastics off of IBSP. Sat and Sun, we made the right and fished south of Barnegat Inlet from 2 to 5 miles in 30 to 50 feet of water just to steer clear of the few hundred boats that have been congregating North in the area of the Coast Guard Station on Island Beach.
We will be running open boat trips this Thurs and Fri, Dec 1&2. Leaving at 6AM, and returning at 2PM each day. $150 per person, limited to three people, all fish are shared. There is a separate body of fish up North on the Shrewsbury Rocks now, so the good news is, besides the current bite we have near the inlet, those new fish will filter down our way, as well. With the temps the way they are, and the gobs of sandeels along the coast, we should be in for an interesting couple of weeks.
Here is some video of a triple header, including 11 year old Max DeGennaro on an 18 pounder he decked this past Friday on a 10 pound spinning rod: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwgfdJnVkGk
Saturday, the boat is chartered and Sunday I will be putting on my Freehold Fishing Flea Market at Park Ave Elementary School, 280 Park Ave., Freehold from 9 AM to 3 PM.
