September 30, 2011
4:00 PM
This fall is starting off great let's keep it going. Kingfish activity off of the surf is still strong, they are biting like mad dog. So is the tog fishing in the inlet. Steve (FHQ store staf ) store shop was up up on the rocks yesterday and get into 'em good with Chester. Bass fishing is becoming more consistent as the days process. There have been a couple days with great fishing on lures as well as bait. The Fall Surf Fishing Derby is right around the corner so kick it into high gear and ensure you of your tackle is ready to rock. If you haven't already sign up the the Derby as well as our Striper Side Bet. We have a strong interest this year from almost all anglers signing up (probably due to the phenomenal spring).

Headed down to the inlet last night around 7. No action for about 2 hours and then the blues came in hard and fast. Almost every cast I was hooking up a 2-4 lb fish. Fished until we ran out of bait around 11pm. No bass yet.

JCAA Asks Anglers to Take MAFMC Survey
The Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council is accepting public input through various surveys. One is a general survey while there are also fishery-specific surveys for fluke, sea bass, bluefish, porgies, and other species that are managed by their agency. This is your chance to critique their agency and to make suggestions to improve our fisheries management. JCAA encourages individuals to take these surveys by going to http://www.mafmc.org/vision Below is and excerpt taken from their site.
The Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council is looking to you for help in developing a vision for the future of our fisheries. We are seeking your input through surveys and small group meetings throughout the region.
Over the last 35 years the Council has effectively rebuilt its managed fisheries. We are now determining how these fisheries should be managed in the future. Creating a "blueprint" for Mid-Atlantic fisheries management will allow the Council to address long-term challenges such as maintaining productive marine ecosystems and the communities that rely on our region's fisheries. We want to hear about what is working effectively, what is concerning you, and how you want our fisheries to be managed in the future. We also hope you will tell us how we can make it easier for you to participate in the Council process.
How do existing regulations create economic challenges for fishermen? What issues do you think threaten the sustainability of Mid-Atlantic fisheries? How can the Council better manage recreational fishing to improve your experience?
Your participation will help the Council identify long-term goals, a vision, for Mid-Atlantic fisheries. Using your input, the Council will also develop a strategic plan and use that plan to achieve a vision for our fisheries.

About Jersey Coast Anglers Association
The Jersey Coast Anglers Association is a non-profit organization formed in 1981. The original objective of the JCAA was to combine a loosely fragmented group of marine sportfishing clubs in order to form and promote a united consensus on issues relevant to saltwater anglers in New Jersey. Over the years, the mission of the JCAA has remained unchanged, but now has the added goal of joining forces with organizations having similar objectives in states along the East Coast and national organizations. While the JCAA is relatively young, it has emerged as the most effective organization of its kind on the East Coast. For more information, or for information about becoming a member of the JCAA, please call (732) 506-6565 or visit www.JCAA.org.

The tide was extreme today. Fished the incoming. Rocks covered up and the tide was still on the way in. Check out your dock lines if you need to.
Lots of 2-lb cocktail bluefish. Switched to some clam on the bottom and it loaded with small sea bass and small porgies. Did pick a triggerfish out of the rocks.
Got in just before the rain.
