Fisherman Fred's NJ Fishing Report 5/8

For all you striper fisherman, get out and fish!!! Striper fishing has picked up big time the past few days from the surf. With the full moon tonight it will only get better. Stripers from the surf from LBI, IBSP, Seaside, Ortley Beach, Lavalette, Pt. Pleasant and points north. They are mostly shorts but a lot more keepers in the 28 to 35 inch range are being caught. Clams is the bait of choice. Boaters are catching stripers and blues from the Shrewsbury Rocks. Party boats are having good luck with ling.

Bay fishing for stripers is doing good with catches from Sedge Island, Hi Bar, BB BI buoys, and the flats in Barnegat Bay. Romer Shoal and Flynn's Knoll in Raritan Bay is producing good catches of stripers when fishing clams or trolling Stretch 25 plugs (have Stretch 25 and 30 plugs in stock). Blue fish are all over the bays now as well. The rain slowed the catches down some but the nicer weather this weekend will heat that bite up again.

Guys fishing the Delaware River have had catches of herring and tons of stripers. Live lining herring are doing best but other methods are working.

Your right on Fred. Got four Stripers in the last two days in the back in Brigantine, one at 29 inches. It also looks like the Sharks and Blues are showing up also. Fishing is starting to be fun again. Get out there.
